#japantrip The famous Kamo river is located in Kyoto Perfecture as a walking spot for the local people and foreign tourists especially during the autumn season as you will be able to see the maple leaves surrounded the river. Visiting here, do get yourself to enjoy a meal at the restaurant by the river in order to enjoy the view by the window!! First visit: What is this? 😔 Second visit: Wow, so nice to stroll and like 🤩 Following the 📍Kamo River, you usually go to the place shown in picture 2, which is also my first impression of Kamo River haha~ There are stairs at both ends of the bridge that you can walk down, and many locals like to sit by the river and chat, which is very pleasant 🍃~ Walk straight along the river, turn at the intersection shown in picture 5, and the whole street is full of surprises, with many famous shops such as Lelabo (coffee shop), blue bottle☕️, Sayori chestnut cake🍰, wife&husband🍞, etc., all on this street~ Little tips📝 1⃣️There are two subway stations that can take you to Kamo River 🚇: Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, after exiting, follow the location to get to the river as shown in picture 2 🚇: Kyoto Kawaramachi Station, after exiting from Exit 1, turn right and you will see the street with many beautiful shops 👣But no matter which station you get off at, you can walk to the other side~ 2⃣️Shops in Kyoto are very laid-back, and it's normal for them to close 3-4 days a week. Before traveling, use Google Maps to check the business hours of the shops. Cake shops usually close at 18:00, with last orders taken half an hour before. 3⃣️It's recommended to set aside a whole day for Kamo River, to cycle or walk by the river during the day, have a chestnut cake in the afternoon, and then spontaneously enter any shop you like to discover unexpected surprises

Finally, we returned to the city and bought matcha desserts and Japanese souvenirs at the Isetan Shopping Center in Kyoto Station, which was the perfect end to our trip to Kyoto.

We visited in early November 2023, but unfortunately, the leaves were changing color slowly. However, we did see some beautiful scenery along the Kamo River. The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto is a must-stay hotel during the maple leaf season (2) I stayed at 4 hotels in Kyoto last time Every hotel was amazing~ The Ritz-Carlton room was big enough for the kids to run around and have fun. I had Michelin tempura at the Ritz-Carlton and burned my mouth I couldn't enjoy the food anymore... To get there, take bus numbers 206, 100, or 18 from JR Kyoto Station and get off at Gojo-zaka Station. From there, it's about a 10-minute walk. Admission for adults is 400 yen. After visiting Kiyomizu-dera, you can continue your tour to Gion and the Kamo River. Gion's streets preserve the old-world charm of Japan, with Hanamikoji Street being the most popular. Strolling here feels like stepping back in time. Whether you want to enjoy tea, buy local specialties, or wear a kimono, Gion has it all. Navigate to Demachiyanagi Station in Kyoto, then walk along the Kamo River. ⛅️ At dusk, there are few pedestrians along the riverbank, allowing you to quietly sit under the cherry blossom trees 🌸, watching young cyclists speed by 🚴, couples whispering softly to each other 👫, and waterfowl playing freely in the clear river 🦢. Watching the pink petals 🌺 gently fall... it's a beauty that neither a brush 🖌️ nor a camera 📷 can capture.

The Kamo River, running north to south for a total length of 23 kilometers, is one of the iconic scenic spots in Kyoto. The best way to explore the Kamo River is, of course, by renting a bicycle and riding along its banks. As you cycle along the riverbanks, you can listen to the gentle sound of flowing water while taking in the beautiful scenery on both sides. Then, take a break to enjoy the cool breeze, bask in the sunlight, and watch the river and the green grass. Stayed at my favorite hotel in Japan in Kyoto! Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo Premier The hotel is new (opened in July this year), so there weren't many recommendations, but it's really beautiful!! The location is great, 5 minutes' walk from Karasuma Oike Subway Station, and the small alley where the hotel is located is very beautiful and good for shopping. It is a ten-minute walk to Kamo River, which is super convenient for eating and shopping. The room is not big, 28 square meters, but all the facilities are new, and there is a washing machine in the room. The further up you go, the fewer the crowds and the more magnificent the gates. Pro tip: arrive before 9 AM for crowd-free photos. It's a spiritual journey that's both exhilarating and serene. 🗼 Kyoto Tower 721-1 Higashishiokoji-cho, Karasuma-dori Shichijo-sagaru, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto Kyoto Tower, right across from Kyoto Station, offers a dazzling view of the city, especially at night. While I skipped the ascent (Japan has many towers!), the area buzzes with great food spots and shopping centers like GU. The tower's unique collaborations, like with Hibike Euphonium, make for a musically enchanting experience. 🌊 Kamo River Kamo River, Kyoto Strolling along Kamo River is a Kyoto ritual for me. Whether it's watching eagles soar or ducks glide by, the river exudes tranquility. 🕐️DAY 4: Morning: Depart at 9:20! Planning to have Marukyu Koyamaen's matcha roll for breakfast! Only to find out that dine-in starts at 10:30! Couldn't wait, so we ordered take-out matcha and matcha ice cream cone and headed to Kinkaku-ji! You can spend about 1.5 hours at Kinkaku-ji, even faster if you skip the souvenir shop . Then immediately rushed to Ginkaku-ji, there's a direct bus. Compared to Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji looks more modest (when Ashikaga Yoshimasa built it, he was out of money, yet dared to imitate Kinkaku-ji, not very wise), but the moss at Ginkaku-ji is excellent, and the entrance fee is cheaper, isn't this much better than Saiho-ji ? Had lunch at a nearby restaurant called Little Bear. Afternoon: After lunch, continue to Nanzen-ji. The aqueduct at Nanzen-ji is very beautiful, reminiscent of ancient Roman aqueducts, and the small gardens are also very nice. Moreover, if you don't visit the exhibitions and just stroll outside, there's no entrance fee. Finished touring at 3:50, still had time to visit Kiyomizu-dera. It's said that the fortunes at Kiyomizu-dera are quite accurate, and the stage is very spectacular. Evening: The last stop is Kamogawa. Took a direct bus to Sanjo Bridge, then strolled back to Shijo Bridge. The riverside is very cool and the scenery is nice. Finally, found a restaurant by chance at Hanamikoji for dinner, a bit pricey. Returned to the hotel around 22:00. 💗Other tips: Don't look for restaurants recommended by various app authors! Either there's a queue, or you need a reservation, or it's expensive! Just go with the flow for meals! At least there's no psychological burden.

You won't give up easily until you get a good fortune^^. However, you can see the Kyoto Tower directly from the top of Kiyomizu-dera; it's very noticeable! *Fushimi Inari Taisha is really recommended for the lazy; just see the Senbon Torii and you can leave. No need to climb the mountain, haha. *Hanami Koji is really the street I walked slowly twice, my favorite street in Kyoto, with a special charm!! But it's a private street, and photography is not allowed TT *Went to Yasaka Shrine at noon, and then again at night just to see the night view. It's less crowded and more immersive, but the daytime also has its beauty that matches the blue sky. *I sat by the Kamo River for a long time; the water is especially clear. Many people perform on the streets, creating particularly beautiful moments. The surrounding area is lined with restaurants and cafes, a perfect choice for leisurely passing the time!!
