Kaiyuan Temple is located at No. 109, Yanzhao South Street, Zhengding County, Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province. It was built in the second year of Xinghe in the Eastern Wei Dynasty (540 AD). It was originally named Jingguan Temple and is one of the eight major temples in the ancient city of Zhengding. In the 26th year of Kaiyuan in the Tang Dynasty (738 AD), it was renamed Kaiyuan Temple. The main buildings in Kaiyuan Temple are the Three Gate Tower, the Heavenly King Hall, the Kaiyuan Temple Xumi Pagoda, the Kaiyuan Temple Bell Tower and the ruins of the Dharma Ship Hall. The main hall is at the back, and the Kaiyuan Temple Bell Tower and the Kaiyuan Temple Xumi Pagoda are facing each other on the left and right in front of the hall. The layout of the main hall of Kaiyuan Temple at the back and the towers and pagodas facing each other on the left and right is a typical example of the architectural layout of Buddhist temples in the Tang Dynasty, and occupies an important position in the history of Chinese architecture.
