Mailbox @ Imjingak DMZ South Korea
#seoul
When on my DMZ tour in Seoul, I came across these mailboxes at Imjingak Park.
Interestingly, there were free postcards affixed with South Korean stamps, and there was also a table with DMZ ink chops for visitors to stamp their postcards as well.
Apparently, if anyone mails these postcards in the red mailbox, they will be delivered to your receiver in a year from date sent.. includes even international delivery. It really makes for an interesting souvenir.
Do give this a try if you are visiting Imjingak!

“I wanna run” Train @ Imjingak DMZ
#seoul
During my DMZ tour at Imjingak Park, I got to see the Steam Locomotive at Jungdan Station, which is famously known as “I wanna run” train.
This battle-scarred steam engine was a sombre looking exhibit in the park, a tragic reminder of the Korean War, and separation between South Korea and North Korea. This engine was a part of a train that was used to transport military supplies during the Korean War. Allies forces blew up this train when it was under threat of being used by the other side.

Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park
Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park is a special place where you can feel both the pain of division and the message of peace. The wide-open lawn and various art installations make it a great place for a leisurely walk, and the windmill hill is particularly impressive. It's a place where you can reflect on its historical significance and wish for peace in nature, making it worth a visit. I highly recommend it.

Dokgae Bridge @ Imjingak DMZ South Korea
#seoul
As part of my DMZ tour in Seoul, I got to visit Dokgae Bridge in Imjingak Park.
Dokgae Bridge was formerly a railway bridge used to take trains North across the Imjin River, but the bridge was severely damaged during the Korean War, leaving only some of its remaining piers.
I also got the chance to view the bank of the Imjin River and even a number of bullet holes located on the piers of Dokgae Bridge.
There were even glass floors with a restored section of the Gyeongui railway and bullet shells forming the alphabets DMZ.
This attraction is not to be missed!

Bunker @ Imjingak DMZ South Korea
#seoul
On the DMZ tour, I got the opportunity to visit beat 131 Bunker for a small fee of 2000 KRW, and it was definitely an attraction not to be missed!
The military bunker constructed during the Korean War has been changed into an interesting exhibition space. There was also the chance to step across the “yellow line” which was the Civilian Control Line.
My rating: 4.5 ⭐️ out of 5!
