One of the few preserved railway historical buildings
Location: No. 71, Zhongshan Road, Hualien City, Hualien County
Introduction: In 1908, with the start of construction of the Hualien-Taitung Railway, the Railway Department of the Taiwan Governor-General's Office established the Hualien-Taitung Railway Operation Center at Heijintong, Hualien Port Street (now Zhongshan Road, Hualien City), and set up offices, police sections, engineering sections and other institutions.
In September 1909, the "Hualien Port Branch of the Railway Department, Transportation Bureau, Taiwan Governor-General's Office" was established.
In 1959, it was changed to "Taiwan Railway Administration Hualien Office".
In 1982, the Taiwan Railway Administration Hualien Station moved to a new location in Fengchuan, and these buildings and facilities lost their functions.
In 2002, the Executive Yuan Cultural Construction Committee listed its surrounding facilities as Hualien County Historical Buildings and began restoration. The Hualien Railway Cultural Park now includes the Hualien Port Branch Office of the Ministry of Railways, the old station fountain, the old Hualien Engineering Section, the old Hualien Police Section, the steam locomotive water tower, the old railway hospital, the old train station machine shop, the director's dormitory and the staff dormitory complex.

Tips: When you come to Hualien, don’t just think about Taroko, there is also a small but beautiful historical building. Hualien Railway Cultural Park. You can learn some knowledge about trains and some precious cultural relics there. It is a great place for a family trip.
