Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II – A Practical and Well-Located Choice in Seoul
#cityplaybook
Seeking a cost-effective stay in Seoul before departing from Incheon, I stumbled upon Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II, and it proved to be a solid choice, particularly for its excellent location and practical amenities.
Having previously frequented hotels in Myeongdong for business, I was admittedly a bit hesitant to book with my own money. While the search for a truly "budget-friendly" option around 100,000 KRW proved challenging, as typical rates are higher (often averaging around 280,000 KRW, though I did see some prices around 110,000-125,000 KRW on specific dates), I decided on this hotel, and I'm glad I did. It still offers good value considering its prime location.
One unique aspect of Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II (or "2호점" as referred to) is the check-in process. You need to head to the adjacent "Central Branch" for check-in. This is because there are no staff present in the Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II building itself, and even luggage storage is self-service. The Central Branch is right next door, and the staff there were friendly, providing a queue number upon arrival. It's crucial to remember to check in and receive your room key, as you won't be able to access the building otherwise.
Upon returning to Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II after check-in, I was pleased with the room's layout. The front area offered ample space to comfortably spread out luggage. I was able to open both a 30-inch and a 26-inch suitcase simultaneously without any issue, which was a huge plus. This room structure was definitely a highlight for me.
The hotel also provided a thoughtful touch with water bottles – a total of three. Although I drank one, it was clear that they generally provide water appropriately for the number of guests, which I found to be a very considerate detail.
From a location standpoint, Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II truly shines. It's within walking distance of Cheonggyecheon Stream, Seoul Plaza, Myeongdong Street, department stores, and Myeongdong Cathedral. This central location makes it incredibly convenient for exploring the city's key attractions.
Overall, if you're looking for a practical and well-located hotel in Myeongdong that offers good value for money, even if it's a bit above the 100,000 KRW mark, Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II is a strong contender. Just remember the check-in procedure at the Central Branch!
