Just across the road you can reach historic sites and accommodation overlooking the Tamsui River
On a whim, I wanted to find a place to do nothing, preferably somewhere nearby where I could walk around, but I didn't want to travel long distances or spend too much money, so I found Tamsui Laihu Cultural Hotel online and booked a room right away.
Tamsui Laihu Hotel is just one bus stop away from Tamsui MRT Station, or a leisurely 10-15 minute walk away.
The hall is spacious and non-oppressive, and there is a lounge on the first floor where you can rest.
The room is spacious and you can overlook the Tamsui River from the window. There is a chaise longue where you can lie back and daydream, and there is also a small bar where you can buy takeout and enjoy your meal at a leisurely pace.
The breakfast buffet was adequate but the variety was limited, so foreign tourists might not be used to it. The coffee was pre-brewed in a pot and kept warm, and ground coffee was only available on Saturdays, which was a pity.
The hotel is located near a road with heavy traffic, so you can hear the sound of cars. If you are afraid of noise, it is recommended that you contact the hotel before check-in to arrange a quieter room.
The counter staff are polite and the staff are friendly.
Walk out of the hotel, cross the road, enter from the park, and walk for about 5 minutes to reach Tamsui Cultural Park - Shell Warehouse.
The Shell Warehouse was formerly the warehouse of the British company, Jardine Matheson & Co. It is a designated historical site in New Taipei City and is now used by Tamsui Community University and the Tamsui Cultural Foundation.
In addition to seeing historic buildings such as warehouses, the view of the Tamsui River from here is also beautiful.
Strolling in the Shell Warehouse, you will arrive at the Golden Waterfront, and the Tamsui MRT Station is right next to it.
Explore historical sites, see the riverside scenery, go shopping and eat snacks, all in one go, and finally take the bus from the MRT Tamsui Station one stop back to the hotel.
This kind of itinerary is quite suitable for lazy people like me who want to sleep until they are full but don’t want to move too much.
With the current hotel room rates in Taipei and New Taipei, you can book a room with a view of the Tamsui River and breakfast for just over 1,000 yuan, and there are attractions to visit nearby. Laihu Cultural Hotel is a good choice with a good value for money.
