Watson Bay is the oldest fishing village in Australia. From the wharf, you can walk to the nudist Lady Bay Beach or to the Hornby Lighthouse. Another path leads to the coastal cliff The Gap and the Macquarie Lighthouse. The entire journey is very pleasant with beautiful scenery, a must-visit for sea lovers. 🚗 Transportation: Take the ferry from Circular Quay next to the Sydney Opera House.

The Hornby Lighthouse is located in Sydney. It is easy to walk up to the lighthouse, which looks like it has just been freshly painted. The red and white stripes contrast beautifully with the azure sky and ocean. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with stunning views of Sydney Harbour. You can climb the lighthouse stairs, but entry inside is not permitted. It is well worth the trip to see the lighthouse and enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery along the way!

Me and my friend, we decided to test our luck whether we can spot the whale from the light house, and the report come out we didn't find any. Quite sad about it, but still the walk to the lighthouse was very enjoyable. The road is easy to walk, there also many signs on the way telling us which way to go and even if you don't look at the signs, your Google map is good too. Board a ferry to Watsons Bay from Circular Quay and follow the directions to Hornby Lighthouse. It’s a short round trail, with a few steps and incline but nothing too challenging. The lighthouse is located on a cliff so you’ll be able to take in majestic cliff side views and catch the Sydney CBD skyline. After your visit to the lighthouse, head back to the Watsons Bay ferry terminal where there are several quaint seafood restaurants and cafes dotting the coastline. Tuck in to a seafood feast and perhaps pair that with a glass of bubbly or a refreshing beer! From Watsons Bay, you can catch a bus to Bondi Junction or head onto the ferry for a trip back to the CBD. Be sure to sit outside on the left side of the ferry if you want to see the Sydney Opera House from the water.

The Hornby Lighthouse on the southern headland at the entrance to Sydney Harbor was built in 1858 and is the third lighthouse in the area. The reason for building the lighthouse was the sinking of two ships on the southern headland in 1857, which resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives. The Hornby Lighthouse is nine meters high and initially used oil lamps. In 1904, it was converted to gas lamps, and in 1933, it was converted to electric lamps and automated. Before that, there was always a keeper living by the lighthouse. During World War II, the lighthouse was under military control until 1975 when it was transferred to the national park, and a keeper lived by the lighthouse again.
