If I could only choose one area to freely explore in Seoul, I would definitely choose Hongdae! This place is always full of the urge to "take pictures, buy, and stay." Compared to Sinsadong or Myeongdong, Hongdae has a more free-spirited and unconventional personality. This is not my first time to Hongdae, but I am still pleasantly surprised by the small shops that keep popping up. My favorite is the small alleys in the Yeonnam-dong area. The shops are very low-key and the doors are full of plants. Some stores will even let you DIY your own T-shirts, handmade soaps or scented candles, which is really fun. 📍How to get to Hongdae? This trip, we actually flew from America to Thailand, but we had to catch a connecting flight in Korea and had 10 hours, so we decided to stop by for a bit. 💖As soon as the plane landed, we headed straight to Shiopan, a famous salt bread shop in Hongdae. After we were full, we walked around the area. Then, we went to a nearby cafe and had coffee first. ☕️The first cup of coffee wasn't enough. We went to another cafe. The mood was great, but it was a bit mysterious. We walked around for a while before we found it. You could call it a secret cafe. 🫶🏻Next, we went to Myeongdong, a shopping area that you can't miss. We walked around a lot and stopped by a famous and delicious barbecue restaurant. It was mysterious as usual because it was on the 2nd floor of a building. We got confused many times. I spent my days sipping iced Americanos in cute cafés, trying street food like tteokbokki and hotteok, and exploring neighborhoods like Hongdae and Ikseon-dong — each with its own vibe! ☕️🍡 I dressed up in hanbok and strolled through Bukchon Hanok Village, feeling like I time-traveled into a K-drama. The city sparkles at night — whether it’s the lights from Namsan Tower, the buzz of night markets, or riverside walks along Hangang. ✨ The food? Unreal. Korean BBQ, kimchi jjigae, and bingsu desserts made every meal a highlight! If you’re a foodie in Seoul, Gwangjang Market is an absolute must! ✨ Stepping into this bustling maze of sizzling stalls and lively vendors felt like entering street food heaven. The smell of freshly made bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes) hit me first — golden, crispy, and so satisfying! I sat shoulder to shoulder with locals and travelers, slurping up spicy tteokbokki, juicy mayak gimbap (mini seaweed rice rolls), and savory japchae. 🍢🥢 One of my favorite bites? Yukhoe — Korean-style beef tartare, served fresh with egg yolk and sweet pear slices. I was a little nervous to try it, but it turned out to be so flavorful and refreshing! And of course, no visit is complete without a bowl of hot sundae (Korean blood sausage) for the full experience. I loved the energy of it all — the sounds of frying pans, the cheerful ahjummas calling you to their stalls, and the endless trays of colorful food. It’s not just a market, it’s a full cultural experience. Gwangjang Market gave me a real taste of Seoul — in every sense of the word! what an absolutely great place for cat lovers, i went there and stayed from about 13:00 until 18:45, just watching, it was like a shot of lovable caffeine, when you feeling depleted there's nothing better than sitting amongst animals, and what dofferent characters there were. the grumpy ones the playful ones the ones you were greedy for snacks.

It was a Korean-BBQ hunting day! We had tried many of the Korean cuisines but we have not come across an authentic BBQ restaurant which appealed to our sight & taste buds. As we had an early dinner, my friend and I were the only diners at the restaurant. We were well-served with a lady who did the initial cooking for us! The side dishes were free flow & the price was very reasonable too. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself is nostalgic. It felt as if you were in a setting in Korea in the past years. Having dinner at this restaurant made you feel so much part of Korea’s history. #localfood

In addition to sushi, there are sashimi and sides, so it is a good place to drink. My husband and I usually ate special assorted sushi, but today we ordered fish sushi and assorted sushi.

I went to Sangsu for a date and heard about a skewer omakase place, so I decided to check it out right away. I highly recommend making a reservation before visiting this place!!! The seating area is relatively small. 📍Naruto Address: Basement level, Yakitori Naruto, 26 Dokmak-ro 9-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul Hours: Mon-Thu 17:00-23:00, Fri-Sat 16:00-01:00 (Fri starts at 17:00) Sun 16:00-22:45 The hours vary, so make sure to check before visiting! Here, you can enjoy 3, 5, or 7 skewer omakase options, and we chose the 5-skewer set. We also tried the tomato ramen and mackerel rice pot!!! They were absolutely delicious. Especially the mackerel rice pot—it's a must-try. The skewers are grilled one by one after you order, so you can enjoy them hot, which is a major advantage. If you're in Sangsu, this is a great spot to have a drink and enjoy some food!
