To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of superstars Leslie Cheung and Anita Mui, the Hong Kong Film Archive (Hong Kong Film Archive) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will organize a special screening programme of the two superstars, "Youth Continues", from April to December. Through 20 films of different genres and themes, the audience can once again relive the charm of a generation of legends. "Youth Continues" is one of the programs of the first "Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival". To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bruce Lee's death, the Hong Kong Film Archive (Hong Kong Film Archive) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) organized the "Just Extraordinary - Bruce Lee" screening programme, selecting four films in which Bruce Lee starred from his childhood to adolescence to be screened at the Archive Cinema from August to November, reviewing the extraordinary growth of this kung fu superstar. Bruce Lee had starred in more than 20 movies before he went to the United States at the age of 18. Born into an acting family, he was able to portray an orphan, a street child, or a rebellious teenager, and was widely hailed as a "genius child star." In "A Light in the Ocean of Bitterness" (1953), Bruce Lee changed his lively and active image and played a gloomy and strong poor boy. His performance was very infectious. In "The Dawn at the Bridge" (1953), which depicts the life of the grassroots class, the young Bruce Lee co-starred with famous actors such as Zhang Ying and Wu Chor-fan without any stage fright. These films include the three major series adapted from Chinese comics, namely "Mr. Wang", "King of Oolong" and "Old Master Q"; adapted from Japanese comics, such as "A Man Should Enter the Bottle" (1994), "Initial D" (2005), and "City Hunter" (1993); and films adapted from popular local comics, such as the "Young and Dangerous" series, the "Feel 100%" romance series, and the "Feng Yun" series of martial arts comics. The exhibition analyzes the similarities and differences between the film and the comic book in terms of plot, characterization and modeling, and explores how filmmakers incorporate the essence of the original work into the creation of the film.
