Furano's lavender fields offer a feast for the eyes with their beautiful blooms, open-air hot springs, and Japanese cuisine
Furano's lavender fields, located in the heart of Hokkaido, are known as the City of Lavender. Every year from July to August, you can see a vibrant display of lavender and a variety of other flowers competing in full bloom.
The flower fields are divided into three major areas: Kamifurano, Nakafurano, and Biei.
Near the Kamifurano town area, you can overlook the 4.2-hectare lavender fields and the Tokachi mountain range from 'Sunrise Park'; located in Nakafurano, the highly popular and well-known 'Farm Tomita' is considered the birthplace of lavender tourism; and 'Highland Furano' in Furano City, which has lodging facilities, a 3.5km forest walking trail, and an open-air hot spring where you can enjoy the view of lavender, are all great spots for sightseeing.
July is the peak season for lavender. Standing on the hillside and looking down, the sea of purple flowers gently sways in the breeze, offering a tranquil haven for the soul.
