Originally, the bridge was both a railway and road bridge. However, after its destruction in 1945 and its subsequent reconstruction, it was only accessible to rail and pedestrian traffic. Cologne had so much to offer myself & my 6 year old Son. Our first visit here & we were majorly impressed with the sights, the food & the overall city. We were here for 24 hours & managed to cram in most of the major sights. Transport around is easy using the underground & trains. The chocolate museum is a most & excellent value for money. Top Tip: pre book & go early as it gets extremely busy after lunchtime. The cafe there is amazing !!!! There are lots to do for free including taking in the sights.

The city's Old Town welcomed me with its charming cobblestone streets and the enticing aroma of pretzels. Lost in the alleys of the Old Cologne, history whispered through ancient walls. Crossing the Hohenzollern Bridge, I marveled at the colorful tapestry of love locks, each a story of affection and promises. Nearby, the majestic Cologne Cathedral soared into the sky, a beacon of architectural wonder. The vibrant shopping streets were alive with fashion and friendly faces, making every moment delightful. As evening painted the sky in warm hues, I realized Cologne was a treasure trove for solo explorers. The city was a perfect blend of history, culture, and warmth, leaving me with beautiful memories and a story to tell.

There was a two-day break between the European Cup group stage and the knockout rounds, and I took advantage of these two days to come to Cologne. It turns out that this city can be almost visited in half a day, and the cathedral drives the tourism industry of the entire city. Cologne is also one of the host cities for this European Cup. Writing this article is also a reference for friends who want to watch football or visit the cathedral in the future.
