In mid-April, my travel buddies and I went to Sendai to chase cherry blossoms. Besides the famous cherry blossom spots in Sendai city and the Hitome Senbonzakura in Funaoka, we unexpectedly discovered a hidden gem in northern Miyagi Prefecture—Hiyoriyama Park. The park is located in Ishinomaki City, home to the "Manga King" Shotaro Ishinomori's [Ishinomori Manga Museum] His world-famous "Kamen Rider" is one of his creations. The park also has historical significance, as it served as a shelter during the 2011 tsunami, making it a place of remembrance and resilience. The combination of natural beauty, historical depth, and peaceful surroundings makes Hiyoriyama Park one of the best cherry blossom spots in the Ishinomaki area. I visited for the first time in a while with a friend from Hirosaki. There is a new torii gate at Hiyoriyama Park⛩️ The view from the shrine was very grand and pleasant. I thought about the earthquake and vowed to burn out my current life. Afterwards, I had a sea urchin and salmon roe bowl at a restaurant called Hiratsuka. It was the end of the season so I wasn't sure if it would be okay, but they were able to serve me (they said they didn't serve me yesterday). I'm grateful for this connection! Of course it was delicious, and the staff were all very pleasant, so I'll definitely come back.
