This time I brought my parents to Yancheng for a trip and to celebrate an elder's birthday. We chose Yancheng Hilton as our accommodation. During these 3 days and 2 nights, I experienced the hotel's convenient location, excellent staff service, and delicious food, which made me enjoy this Yancheng trip even more.
At Yancheng Hilton, whether it was the front desk, lounge, breakfast room, guest room, or fitness center, the service awareness and attitude of every staff member impressed me. Their service level was excellent based on my overall experience.
Guest Room:
We booked a basic twin room and were upgraded to a panoramic executive twin room, which is 10 square meters larger than the regular twin room and has a large floor-to-ceiling window offering a panoramic view of Yancheng city. On the day of check-in, the staff proactively contacted me in the morning to offer an upgrade to a suite. However, since an extra bed would be needed for three people in the suite, costing 350 per bed, I politely declined. The situation of not offering suites, as mentioned in some articles, did not occur in my case.
Since I had marked a family member's birthday in advance via email, the hotel decorated the room with balloons and provided a cake and a handwritten card from the lounge. The room's decor was simple yet rich in local characteristics, and the bathroom featured a frosted glass design, ensuring both transparency and privacy. In terms of amenities, the hotel provided Hilton's standard Crabtree & Evelyn brand, as well as toothbrushes, bathrobes, and slippers, all prepared in three sets, which was very considerate.
The welcome gift was abundant, including a fruit plate, local specialties like Funing big cake and Wuyou sugar twists, and a separate plate of small pastries.
Dining:
The lounge's afternoon tea fruits and snacks were served in individual portions, each wrapped in cling film. There were about four portions displayed outside, and the staff would promptly replenish them if they ran out. Although it seemed not very abundant on the surface, it felt hygienic and avoided waste. If you needed juice during afternoon tea, you had to ask the staff to pour it in the back kitchen; it was not placed at the front desk.
The lounge's Happy Hour was commendable, with different dishes each day, offering a variety of choices. The overall taste was spicy, possibly due to the large number of Koreans in Yancheng. Every day, there were several Korean dishes and uncommon ingredients like braised duck heads.
The lounge did not provide breakfast; everyone dined in the breakfast room. The breakfast room offered a rich variety of options, including many local snacks. The freshly made fish soup noodles and egg pancakes were very delicious.
Facilities:
I experienced the gym and swimming pool. The gym is open 24 hours, and although the space is not large, it is well-equipped with amenities like towels, water, headphones, jump ropes, and disposable cleaning cloths for wiping down equipment.
The swimming pool is open from 6 am to 10 pm. When I went at 7 am, I was the only one there. The pool was spacious and bright, with a glass roof similar to the popular pool at the Conrad in Tonglu. The water was warm and very comfortable. The changing room also had a steam room and sauna, with overall well-equipped facilities.
Memorable Moments:
I had always heard that it was difficult to get a suite at Yancheng Hilton. However, on the morning of check-in, staff member Jojo proactively called to offer an upgrade to a suite. Although I chose not to upgrade due to having three people, I was still very grateful.
The lounge service was excellent. On the first day of Happy Hour, there was no noodle station, but because it was an elder's birthday, the lounge ordered a bowl of longevity noodles from the restaurant, which the elder said was particularly delicious.
I had contacted the duty manager Peter the day before check-in to communicate about a family member's birthday. Later, when I consulted the front desk staff, Peter recognized my voice and came over to assist me proactively.
Special thanks to every staff member who served or indirectly served us.
Surroundings:
The location of Yancheng Hilton is very advantageous. The surrounding environment is clean and tidy, and it is close to the city's attractions. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk to the Salt Museum, and turning a corner from the museum leads to Water Street. I especially recommend visiting Water Street at night, where there are various lanterns and opera performances. The atmosphere is very good, with not many people, mostly locals enjoying the performances.
