We previously introduced Hotasan Son'eiji Temple for its wind chime festival and hydrangeas, but during the rainy season, you can enjoy a cute tunnel of Teru Teru Bouzu 🤍 When I visited in 2022, there were colorful Teru Teru Bouzu like the one in the photo. I didn't have a good photo, but when I visited in 2023, the blue gradient created a different atmosphere! ! 1,200 Teru Teru Bouzu are displayed in front of the gate at the entrance to Hotasan Son'eiji Temple, so you can enjoy visiting the temple even during the gloomy rainy season, so we recommend it. Not only in the summer, but also during the rainy season, the hydrangea and umbrella displays are a wonderful place🤍 The best time to see them is from mid to late June, when the beautiful, colorful hydrangeas bloom in blue, purple, and pink. They start blooming around late May, so it might be a good idea to go see them before the rainy season really starts! In the summer, the temple is decorated with wind chimes, a seasonal feature of summer 🎐 Colorful wind chimes with various designs welcome worshippers, and their wonderful sounds reverberate throughout the temple 🤍 There are apparently 4,000 of them 🫢 My personal recommendation is the wind chime lighting up. The shining wind chimes were just so beautiful!! Even in the middle of summer, hearing the sound of wind chimes makes you feel a little cooler! A seasonal feature of summer: the Enshu Sanzan Wind Chime Festival Among them are the wind chimes and Teru Teru Bozu at "Hotasan Son'eiji Temple", the umbrella sky, the chozuya (purification fountain), and many other photogenic spots, making it a very interesting place. ★A brightly colored Teru Teru Bozu in front of the Niomon Gate This Niomon Gate is a nationally designated important cultural property. It is said that the world changes when you pass through the gate. ★It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the Niomon Gate to the main hall. The rows of cedar trees and green maples are wonderful, and the autumn leaves are a spectacular sight. ★In the summer at Hotasan, wind chimes are displayed all over the corridors and the Tsubasa Hall and the pleasant sounds are soothing. In the main hall, "wishing wind chimes" are displayed, where you can write your wishes on wooden strips of paper. ★The inside of the east wing to the right of the main hall is surrounded by a blackout curtain, and is lit up with transparent wind chimes. ★When you face the main hall, the right side of the hall is the Shosondo (House of Deities), and there are many colorful wind chimes hanging like beads. There are also umbrellas with hydrangeas painted on them in the foreground, so you can take some great shots with them. ★Kanzeon's specialty rice dumplings were given the name "Kushi-dango" by the Shogun family as a souvenir for those climbing the castle, and since then they have been loved by general visitors for over 150 years and are well-known as the specialty of Hotaisan, "evil-warding rice dumplings." The ticket machine sold two skewers of rice dumplings for 200 yen. The bite-sized skewers were smothered in a generous amount of lightly sweet bean paste, and were delicious.
