Welcome to Paradise! 🏝️ ☀️
Jeju is a picturesque small island located in South Korea.
It is easy to get to from Seoul (1h15 flight) and from other main cities. Flights are also super cheap making this nice trip quite affordable.
On the island, there are tons of beaches and other breathtaking nature wonders such as cliffs, coast boardwalks, waterfalls, parks, botanical gardens and volcanic cones.
Attractions are located all around the island, so you do have to travel quite a bit by bus.
The bus is very cheap and it’s very easy to go around the island. For South Korea, I suggest uploading an app called Naver Map. Other map apps such as Apple map or Google map do not work very well in South Korea.
Where should you stay?
My recommendation to you is to stay three nights in Seogwipo and 2-3 nights on the East side of the Island.
There are quite a few things to see near Seogwipo. You can also go on the West side for a day trip (or two) to see the attractions (Hallim park, coast walk, beaches).
Have fun and enjoy this beautiful island!

An experience that brings back memories of school days
The old items placed throughout the school interior reminded me of my elementary school days. Small details like the harmonium and wooden chairs evoke a sense of nostalgia.
The playground and garden are beautifully maintained, allowing you to enjoy a walk both inside and outside the cafe. The scenery blending with the clear sky is truly reminiscent of Jeju, making it a perfect place to stroll around leisurely.

IMHO, the ticket price is super worth its while, as the place is humongous. As the main lava tubes is closed for renovations till 2025, Hallim park’s two caves are the only ones that are open and easily accessible by visitors. The caves are very beautiful and well maintained, and had mini stories (mother sculpture, the pillar of wisdom, etc). Besides the caves, there’s also a vast garden containing cacti species, bonsai etc and even a traditional folk house set up (so you can skip the folk village visit !!) in the premises.

#100WaysOfTravel
Hallim Park is a true gem on Jeju Island, offering a unique and diverse experience that captivates visitors of all ages. Spanning a vast area, the park is a beautifully landscaped space that features a wide variety of attractions, each more impressive than the last.
One of the standout features of Hallim Park is its incredible botanical gardens. As you stroll through the various themed sections, you’ll encounter a stunning collection of plants from around the world, including tropical species, cacti, and beautiful bonsai trees. The Palm Tree Avenue is particularly striking, providing a lush, shaded pathway that feels like a tropical paradise.
Another highlight of Hallim Park is its extraordinary caves. The park is home to two remarkable lava tubes, Hyeopjae and Ssangyong, which offer a fascinating glimpse into Jeju’s volcanic past. Walking through these cool, dimly lit tunnels, you can see the impressive formations left behind by ancient lava flows, making it a must-see for geology enthusiasts.
For those interested in culture and history, Hallim Park doesn’t disappoint. The traditional Korean folk village within the park offers a glimpse into the island’s past, with well-preserved thatched-roof houses and cultural exhibits that showcase traditional Korean life. The folk village is both educational and picturesque, providing great photo opportunities.
Hallim Park also has a charming bird garden and a tranquil pond filled with lotus flowers, where you can relax and enjoy the serene atmosphere. The park is meticulously maintained, with plenty of benches and shaded areas to rest and take in the scenery.
Whether you're interested in nature, history, or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, Hallim Park offers something for everyone. It’s a beautifully curated space that allows you to explore the natural and cultural wonders of Jeju Island in one convenient location. A visit to Hallim Park is a delightful experience that shouldn’t be missed when traveling to Jeju.

Hanlim Park: The Most Beautiful Spot, Perfect for Half-Day or Full-Day Trips
Hanlim Park, located 33 kilometers west of Jeju City along the coastal road, is chosen as the most beautiful spot in Jeju. The park, with an area of over 100,000 pyeong, features many attractions, including the golden limestone Hyeopjae and Ssangyong Caves formed by volcanic eruptions, a subtropical botanical garden, the Jae-Am Folk Village, and a bird park where peacocks roam freely beside you. In addition, Hanlim Park is situated next to beautiful coasts such as Hyeopjae and Geumneung Beach, making it an ideal location for planning half-day or full-day trips.

Jeju Island's Most Beautiful Park - Hallim Park
Hallim Park is located on the west side of Mount Hallasan and has become a tourist destination on Jeju Island due to its beautiful scenery, including Hyeopjae, Geumneung Beach, and Biyangdo Island. The park spans over 330,000 square meters and is filled with tall palm trees and pine trees, decorated with flowers, offering a colorful display throughout the year. In addition, the Hyeopjae and Ssangyong Caves in Hallim Park, the subtropical botanical garden, and the Jeju stone landscapes are particularly worth seeing. In 2002, a lotus pond about 3,300 square meters in size was added to the park.
* Hyeopjae. Ssangyong Cave 2.5 million years ago, a volcanic eruption in the Mount Hallasan area formed this black lava cave, which turned into a limestone cave with golden hues due to the infiltration of lime water. As the only secondary composite cave in the world, it has been designated as a national cultural property and natural monument. Visitors can admire academically valuable landscapes such as stalactites and stalagmites inside the limestone cave. The Ssangyong Cave, in particular, resembles two dragons emerging, majestic and imposing. The entire cave is 17 kilometers long, making it the longest lava cave in the world.
* Subtropical Botanical Garden The subtropical botanical garden in Hallim Park houses more than 2,000 precious and beautiful plants. It features themed gardens such as the Jeju Wildflower Garden, which displays wildflowers and plants from the mountains and fields of Jeju Island, a garden composed of over 100 species of herbaceous plants, a garden for ornamental shrubs, a flower garden that blooms all year round, the Jeju Tangerine Garden, the Cactus Garden, and the Tropical Plant Greenhouse.
* Jeju Stone Bonsai Garden The Jeju Stone Bonsai Garden is themed around the bonsai and stones found within Hallim Park. It offers various bonsai works and unique rocks, providing a resting space for visitors. The 16,500 square meter garden is planted with various bonsai ranging from 10 to 300 years old. In particular, it features precious species native to Jeju Island, such as the goldenrain tree. Additionally, the lava rocks formed during the volcanic eruptions of Mount Hallasan and Jeju's unique basalt rocks are harmoniously paired with the bonsai, creating a beautiful scene.
* Jaeam Folk Village The Jaeam Folk Village was established to promote the development of modern civilization and to preserve the gradually disappearing traditional Jeju thatched house culture. The authentic thatched houses from the mountainous regions have been moved here intact, and through restoration work, visitors can learn about the daily life of ancient Jeju residents.
* Jaeam Water Stone Museum Jeju Island is a volcanic island, and as such, it is famous for various volcanic bombs, basalt, and other lava rocks formed during volcanic eruptions. The Jaeam Water Stone Museum in Hallim Park displays Jeju's unique water stones as well as various water stones from both domestic and international sources.
* Bird Garden The Bird Garden is home to colorful birds such as mandarin ducks and peacocks, as well as ostriches that can be observed up close. In addition, visitors can also see birds such as white-naped cranes, guinea fowls, and pigeons.
* Palm Tree Road The towering palm trees and native cacti of Jeju create a landscape filled with exotic island charm.
* Lotus Pond Garden The lotus pond garden, which spans over 3,300 square meters and its cool waterfall, leaves a lasting impression.

Exploring 'Eastern Hawaii' - Jeju Island (Part 1)
Staying at Jeju Dalbeach Pension hotel during our trip to Jeju Island, we chose a standard room for 800 RMB, about 3 kilometers from Jeju Island. The style is minimalist, and you can see the beach when you open the window (note that breakfast is not included at this hotel). But let's get back to the point. Grab your DSLR, and let's hit the road~~
Jeju Island is picturesque with a warm climate and unique local customs. Each season brings different hues and sights to enjoy: canola flowers in spring, islands and coasts in summer, purple eulalia in autumn, and snowscapes of Hallasan Mountain in winter. On Jeju Island, you can hike, cycle, snorkel, paraglide, sail, as well as play golf, hunt, fish, horseback ride, race horses, and swim. If you're someone who loves sports, Jeju Island will not disappoint. Even a post-dinner stroll can be a unique pleasure.
The beach is a top tourist attraction on Jeju Island, located within the comprehensive resort area - Jungmun Tourist Complex. The beach is surrounded by scenic spots that are convenient for visitors to enjoy. The unique feature of Jungmun Beach lies in the dunes and their distinctive colors. The dunes are not very high but are a mix of black, white, red, and gray. The beach is also a paradise for marine leisure sports. There are many companies around that offer services for surfing, diving, and rafting. The clear waters and suitable temperatures make it one of the best places for marine leisure sports in Korea.
Hallasan Mountain is the landmark of Jeju Island. This dormant volcano boasts very unique scenery.
Sunshine, beaches, and a romantic blue honeymoon trip. As the altitude increases, the vegetation on the mountain changes accordingly. Due to volcanic eruptions, the volcanic lake formed at the summit - Baengnokdam, is simply an ecological kingdom with a variety of exotic flowers and plants. In spring, Hallasan Mountain turns into a sea of azaleas; in summer, the trees are lush, and streams babble; in autumn, the mountain is covered with red leaves, and the ground is golden; in winter, it is dressed in silver, covered with snow. There are beautiful scenes to behold all year round.
As the filming location for many Korean dramas, Jeju Island has become a dream honeymoon destination for many. If you're single, it's not recommended to come here and torture yourself. Even without the promotion of these TV dramas and the charm of the stars, Jeju Island has long been known as the 'Hawaii of the East.' Moreover, Jeju Island is the only place in Korea without a curfew, and its colorful natural landscapes, water activities, and free and romantic atmosphere attract many young couples. Besides the bustling Seogwipo, there are many other unforgettable attractions on the island: Hanlim Park, Bonsai Art Garden, Jeju Folk Village Museum, Jeongbang Waterfall, and Samgeunbibyung, which are probably favored by those who enjoy a rich nightlife.

Jeju Island Travel Guide in South Korea
Jeju Island Travel Guide
♻️Geographical Location:
Jeju Island is located in the southern part of South Korea, surrounded by the blue sea and sky. The island boasts beautiful scenery and a pleasant climate, making it a place full of natural and cultural charm.
♻️Transportation Guide:
The most convenient way to get to Jeju Island is by plane. There are currently direct flights from Shanghai, Ningbo, Beijing, and Shenyang, and there may be more in the future. The round-trip airfare is estimated to be over 1000 yuan.
♻️Historical Sites:
Hallasan (Hallasan) - This is the highest peak on Jeju Island and the tallest mountain in South Korea; designated as a national park. You can choose to hike or take a cable car to the top to enjoy the magnificent natural scenery.
♻️Hanhwa Land (Hanhwa Land) - This theme park combines natural landscapes with amusement projects, making it very suitable for family fun. Here, you can enjoy water activities, ride roller coasters, and there are also many exciting amusement facilities.
The above two are ordinary attractions, but what I recommend the most is: Seongsan Ilchulbong, which is famous and fun, as well as Moonlit Lee; Yeomiji Botanical Garden, or in other words, many places in Jeju are unique and worth encountering.
♻️Food Recommendations:
Bibimbap (Bibimbap) - This is one of the most popular traditional Korean dishes, made up of vegetables, meat, and rice, mixed with chili paste for consumption. In Jeju Island, you can taste authentic stone pot bibimbap with a rich texture and delicious flavor.
♻️Jeju Black Pork (Jeju Black Pork) - Jeju Island is famous for its specialty black pork. This pork has a marbled texture and is very tender. You can choose to visit a local barbecue restaurant to taste this delicious dish.
There are also rice cakes, Dongmun Market, abalone, and more.
♻️Accommodation Recommendations:
For high-end hotels, I recommend three: the Grand Hyatt in the city center; the Camphor Tree near the city area; and the infinity pool hotel in Seogwipo.
♻️Guesthouse - If you like to be close to nature and experience local life, you can consider staying in a guesthouse on Jeju Island.
As an experienced traveler, besides the food, which is also not tiresome, consumption in South Korea is relatively high, generally 2-3 times that of domestic prices; in fact, the attractions are all classic, and occasionally a small coffee shop by the roadside is very Instagram-worthy;
♻️If you have a budget, try to choose a chartered car;
There are duty-free shops that offer free shuttle services;
Get to know interesting people and things in Jeju; or experience the seaside lighthouse, here is the sea, adjacent to the domestic, worth your visit
Do you like Jeju Island?

Jeju Island Four-Day Three-Night Chartered Tour with Total Expenses and Travel Strategy
Writing this at the very beginning, I had been to Jeju Island with a tour group in 2013, but this chartered trip let me see a completely different Jeju Island.
Early July is the rainy season in Jeju Island, but we were lucky to have sunny weather for two days.
Let me mention that Jeju Island is visa-free, but it's best to prepare printed copies of your return flight ticket and hotel reservations. When filling out the entry form, if you specify the hotel name, they basically won't look at your printed copies anymore. Otherwise, they will want to see them.
Day 1 Udo Island—Dinner at Dongmun (If you don't go to Udo Island when visiting Jeju, you'll miss the jelly sea, which is a must-see. Chinese people who don't have an international driving license can only ride electric bicycles. Since the Chinese-owned place wasn't open, we just borrowed a bike randomly. Udo Island peanut ice cream, Udo Island's famous peanut burger, delicious seafood cold noodles!)
Day 2 Chartered car on the west line Columnar Jointing (under repair, no admission fee)—Yakcheonsa Temple (Korean temple with pleasant scenery)—Cheonjiyeon Waterfall (the first section is under repair but it's really beautiful)—Green Tea Museum (photo check-in is a must, with a view full of green tea and hydrangeas)—Hanlim Park (beautiful stalactite cave, flowers, birds, coconut trees, folk village)—Hyeopjae Beach—Yaeji Village (a must-visit! Coffee shop with beautiful sunset views)—Dinner at Black Pork Street (unforgettable black pork)
Day 3 Chartered car on the east line Woljeongri Beach (coffee shop & surfing experience)—Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak (hiking and distant views)—Sopjikoji (must-visit mint Korean beef & unbeatable scenery)—Seongeup Folk Village (not really necessary)—Forest Train (train ride & hydrangeas & lavender, comparable to Hokkaido's lavender fields!)
Day 4 City sightseeing Shilla Duty-Free Shop—Baojian Road (busy, almost closed)—Dragon Head Rock (sitting in a café for an afternoon, you can see large planes taking off and landing!)—Chilseong-ro (not as good as Shanghai's Waitan)—Seafood (longing for seafood)

Jeju Seogwipo and Hallim Park
Best time to visit Jeju is during the cherry blossom season. Be sure to include in your travel plans Hallim Park in the west in Hallim-eup and Seogwipo in the south.
Cherry Blossoms can be found all over the cities, but Hallim Park is ideal. In Seogwipo, you're sure to find the cherry blossoms at Cheonjiyeon Falls.
Be sure to get iconic photos holding the cherry blossom branches, as well as straight up with a blue sky in the background. It's ideal for a woman to wear a white flowing dress for the peaceful ambiance it creates when posing.

-
Precautions
Many coffee shops in Jeju Island have a rule that one person must order one cup when entering the shop
Just taking pictures and not ordering anything can easily cause misunderstandings
Sea projects may be temporarily suspended in high winds and waves. Check the weather before you go to avoid running in vain
Some famous restaurants should check their business hours, most of them take a break from 14:00-15:30
The waiting time for fried chicken and grilled pig's feet is usually 40 minutes. You can order first, take a walk and then come back to pick it up
