The temperature at the summit was -6°C and the wind was weak, so you could take off your outerwear. *I was wearing an ultra-light down jacket. When I went to Yamagata Zao, it was so cold that I thought my fingers would fall off, and because of the high altitude, the weather was quick to change, and there was a whiteout, so it was really tough! Hakkoda is the collective name for the mountain range that lies in the northern part of Towada-Hachimantai National Park. It is made up of more than 10 mountains, centered around Mt. Hakkoda Odake! From the summit, you can see Mt. Iwaki, Shirakami-Sanchi, Tsugaru Plain, Mutsu Bay, and Hokkaido😳 The best time to see the autumn leaves is from early to late October! Unfortunately, the weather was cloudy on the day I went, but the autumn leaves were beautiful🥰❤️ There is a hiking route to the summit, but if you're just sightseeing, I recommend the 30-minute course route on the Hakkoda Gourd Line, which is well-maintained for walking!
