Cherry Blossom Avenue in the Southern Hemisphere: Christchurch, New Zealand - Hagley Park South
Driving away from a Christchurch B&B, I suddenly saw the cherry blossoms in full bloom in the green park ahead. A quick Google search revealed that this park is called 'Hagley Park,' a large park on the west side of Christchurch. It is divided into northern and southern sections by Riccarton Avenue, with a botanical garden nestled within and the Avon River flowing through. In spring, the cherry blossoms bloom, creating a fairy-tale-like scenery.
Visiting New Zealand during the Southern Hemisphere's spring, I unexpectedly encountered the romantic spring cherry blossoms of Hagley Park. Upon closer inspection, the cherry trees in New Zealand have particularly robust trunks, and their blossoms are especially magnificent. They are not delicate, but they create a picturesque scene, especially with the green grass and blue sky as the backdrop, rivaling Japan's cherry blossom festivals.
