A Poetic Encounter at Valley Origin Homestay
At Wenzhou Station, my best friend specially arranged for me to stay at the Valley Origin Homestay in Yongjia's Nanxi River Scenic Area, offering an extraordinary rural living experience. Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Nanxi River and surrounded by rice fields, this homestay is truly delightful! With drizzling rain above and lush greenery below, farmers bending over their work nearby, egrets soaring over the fields, and distant emerald mountains like painted eyebrows—what a picturesque Jiangnan countryside scene! Here, time slows down, and this is exactly the idyllic life one dreams of.
Originally a century-old house, Valley Origin Homestay has been redesigned and renovated with rammed earth walls and wooden windows, preserving its rustic charm to the fullest. The homestay features 12 meticulously crafted rooms, each bright and clean, offering stunning views of fields and mountains through every window—a unique landscape at every glance. Every angle is perfect, unfolding like a breathtaking scroll of mountain and countryside scenery.
Especially on a misty morning after rain, the distant mountains are veiled in soft clouds, and the fresh air invites deep breaths, clearing the mind. It’s easy to lose oneself in the beauty of this rural retreat, as if hidden away in a secluded Jiangnan paradise, free from worldly worries for a few carefree days.
The homestay’s farm-to-table dining emphasizes health and sustainability—vegetables from the garden, fish from the stream, and rice grown on-site. The afternoon tea and breakfast are equally delightful. The warm and hardworking housekeeper adds to the charm, proving that diligence is truly beautiful.
This idyllic countryside, with its blue skies, white clouds, soaring egrets, crowing roosters, and curling smoke, resembles the dreamlike Peach Blossom Spring described by Tao Yuanming: "The land was flat and vast, with neat houses, fertile fields, beautiful ponds, and mulberry and bamboo groves. Paths crisscrossed, and the sounds of chickens and dogs could be heard." Aren’t we all, in our own way, seeking our personal utopia? If rural life and poetry still feel distant to you, why not come to Yongjia in Wenzhou and rediscover the long-lost beauty of the countryside at Valley Origin Homestay by Nanxi River!
