Ijen Mountain
#naturalwonders #100WaysOfTravel
The hike to reach the top and then down to the crater is not for everyone, it’s really steep and the way down to the crater can be dangerous.
Unfortunately they let anyone do the hike, more than half of the people in the hike were not fit enough to attempt the hike making descending in the crater dangerous for themselves and other. Regulations might be needed.
A part from that Ijen was a beautiful, an incredible experience!

A must-see blue flame in this lifetime
Here is a nanny-level guide to the itinerary of the Indonesian Ijen Volcano:
🌋Itinerary
1️⃣0:00 Depart from the hotel🏨, the journey is far, please go to bed early the night before💤.
2️⃣2:00 Arrive at the foot of the mountain🌋, receive the gas mask😷 and goggles🥽 distributed by the guide, organize your backpack🎒, and go lightly.
(On the way up the mountain, you can choose to ride the local human-powered cart "Lamborghini" at any time, the one-way price is about 500💰, of course, the closer to the end, the cheaper.)
3️⃣Around 4:30 to reach the top, the time varies from person to person.
🌋Check-in points
1️⃣Tree rights: Walk inside the mountain top⛰️ to see tree branches of different sizes, those who are queuing are basically excellent 📷positions
2️⃣Small platform: The small platform under the tree rights, this place is very photogenic, you can take pictures of the volcano🌋 and sulfuric acid lake
3️⃣Right side of the summit: Here you can see the sea of clouds☁️ and the mountain top⛰️
💼Recommended items to bring: Gas mask😷, goggles👓, wet wipes🧻, tissues, Snickers, drinking water
❗️ If you want to go down to the volcanic lake to see the blue fire, it is best to choose a protective mask with eye mask, because sulfur is very irritating to the eyes.

Ijen Resort and Villas is a materialization of a dream. A long time dream which stayed in mind during some decades.
The First Inspiration
The story of Ijen Crater was heard for the first time from an old uncle who happened to be sent there joining forced workersīó by the japanese army in the second world war period. It was in his childhood time.
The Solitary Crater, it is so called because of its position, alone out of reach and out of nowhere. It sounded rather intriguing. The old uncle said that it took the whole day walk to cross through the dark jungle, to arrive in a vast open plain area where they had to spend the night before hiking up the mountain on the next day. And the crater was the only interest because it spit out large quantity of sulfur.

Indonesia - mount Ijen
I finally got the chance to visit this active volcano and believe it or not it’s one of the WORLD’s MUST-SEE VOLCANOES because apparently this Ijen Volcano Crater has the world’s largest acidic volcanic crater lake which, the water is actually in UNIQUE turquoise color! Imagine how cool is that! THIS TIME, We are here for the sole purpose of visiting this crater because this turquoise colored-lake within the crater is quite famous for it’s color and the local miners normally call it the Kawah Ijen. This crater is located right on top of the Mount Ijen where you have to hike 3km from the bottom starting all the way up taking the one way narrow and steep trail to reach the top. For a novice like me i would say this is quite challenging to walk and climb in the dark with a torchlight that provides barely enough visibility to see what’s coming your way in a few meters.
While hiking and climbing up you can see a lot of old sulfur miners ( some barefooted ) marathon-ing using the same trail carrying a basket each as if racing with each other to reach the top to dig minerals, sulfurs or whatsoever they have to dig to sell it for money, leaving us behind staggering and struggling to make each step forward in reaching the same point of mountain. This is too exhausting but worth the effort when you can start smelling something like the rotting eggs and food as you climb higher because it means that you’re about to reach your destination, the GREEN LAKE!

Here is Kawah #ijen, where you can see Blue flame near by a one kilometers wide turquoise colored lake. This trip start at 1 am as you need to climb up to the 2,799 meters height before #sunrise. If you cannot go up there on time you will not see the blue flame. For me, it’s quite hard to walk up to the mountain because of its slope (also, I’m not really work out person). But don’t worry, there is a service taxi (as in my picture no. 3) all the way up and down if you prefer more comfortable way than walking. However, I have to warn you that it’s not just going up, you have to going down in the carter (no taxi available) around 700 meters under rocks road. Believe me, it’s worth.

Walk to Mount Ijen
Wonderful walk to catch the sunrise at the top of Mount Ijen, Java island, Indonesia. I recommend this visit to everyone passionate about breathtaking landscapes. The hike is doable for people who are not well trained. Get some nice hiking shoes as the path is quite slippery because of the dust.

Surabaya, Indonesia: A Symphony of Prosperity and History
Indonesia, a Southeast Asian country composed of thousands of islands, attracts the world's attention with its rich natural resources, diverse culture, and unique geographical location. Among the many cities in Indonesia, Surabaya is undoubtedly a shining pearl, known for its prosperous business atmosphere, long history, and unique geographical location.
Surabaya, known as Surabaya in Indonesian, is located in the eastern part of Java Island. It is the capital of East Java Province and the second largest city in Indonesia. The city covers an area of about 330 square kilometers and has a population of more than 2.87 million (as of 2020), making it one of the four major central cities in Indonesia. Surabaya is located on the southwest side of the Strait of Surabaya, facing Madu Island across the strait. It has been an important foreign trade port on Java Island since ancient times, connecting the economic lifeline of Indonesia and the world.
Surabaya is a commercial city and port city mainly engaged in trade, and its economic development level ranks among the top in Indonesia. Most of the population here is engaged in services, industry and trade, forming a diversified economic system. The main industries in Surabaya include shipbuilding, heavy equipment, food processing, agriculture, electronics, home decoration, and handicrafts. The main products are cigarettes, textiles, sugar, coffee, steel, shoes, etc. In addition, Surabaya has complete financial infrastructure, with many modern financial institutions such as banks, insurance and import and export companies, and is one of the important financial hubs in the Indonesian archipelago.
Surabaya is not only a prosperous modern city, but also an ancient city with a long history. As early as the Middle Ages, Surabaya had become a foreign trade port in Java, witnessing the coming and going of countless merchant ships and cultural exchanges. The place name of Surabaya is also full of legendary colors. One argument is that its original meaning is "shark crocodile", named after the local desolate swamp; another argument is related to Chinese beliefs. It is said that the Chinese called the temple where the "Sizhou Buddha" was enshrined as the "Sishui Temple", which gradually evolved into a place name. Regardless of which argument, it reflects the profound historical heritage and cultural accumulation of Surabaya.
Surabaya is not only an economically prosperous city, but also a charming tourist destination. The main attractions in the city include the House of Sampoerna, Tugu Pahlawan and Surabaya Zoo. In addition, visitors to Surabaya usually go to the surrounding area to climb volcanoes, such as the famous Mount Ijen and Mount Bromo, to experience the magnificence and mystery of nature. The cityscape of Surabaya is also fascinating. High-rise buildings, brilliant lights and ancient buildings reflect each other, showing the unique charm of this city.
Surabaya also enjoys a high reputation internationally and has established friendly city relations with many countries and regions. Among them, Xiamen, China and Surabaya officially established international friendly city relations on June 23, 2006. The two cities have carried out extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation in many fields such as economic and trade exchanges, cultural arts, sports competitions, and urban construction. This kind of international friendly exchanges and cooperation not only promotes the economic development and social progress of Surabaya, but also deepens the friendship and understanding between people of different countries.
Surabaya, Indonesia is a vibrant and charming city. It attracts the world's attention with its prosperous business atmosphere, long history, unique geographical location and rich tourism resources. In future development, Surabaya will continue to play its unique advantages and contribute to the prosperity and progress of Indonesia and the world.

Mount Ijen and Mount Bromo
This is from my trip last year to East Java Province in Indonesia, where I traveled all the way, departing after 1 AM, to witness the legendary volcanoes. Mount Ijen and Mount Bromo, the twin jewels of volcanoes on Java Island, each possess their unique charm.
Mount Ijen, under the night sky, attracts adventurers with its blue flames, like a mysterious signal light in nature.
Mount Bromo greets early-rising visitors with its spectacular sunrise in the morning, with fresh air and mist swirling around.
Around Mount Ijen, tough plants adapted to volcanic soil thrive, while the grasslands and forests of Mount Bromo provide a home for a variety of wildlife. Lake Kawah Ijen, the neighbor of Mount Ijen, with its emerald-green waters and the mystery shaped by volcanic activity, becomes a treasure in the hearts of explorers. These two volcanoes, in their own ways, tell the story of nature's power and beauty.
The air is filled with the smell of sulfur, and the ground is covered with the yellow of sulfur. Trees and grasses still stubbornly survive in such harsh conditions, which can't help but make one marvel at the tenacity and adaptability of life in nature. Even the small grasses in this harsh environment are a natural wonder.

Indonesian Bromo/Ijen Volcano | At this moment, the world is beneath my feet
Ijen and Bromo two-day travel guide
Day 1: Arrived at Surabaya at noon, our guide picked us up, and it was about a four-hour drive to the hotel. Since we were leaving at 1 a.m. on the 14th, we didn't do any sightseeing and went straight to the hotel to rest (our guides were very good, the Surabaya guide even came to the hotel in the afternoon wanting to take us out, but we were too rushed and didn't rest well, so we slept through the knocking and phone calls at the hotel)
9.14 At 1 a.m. we left Surabaya, and it started raining as soon as we left, with no sign of stopping. When we arrived at the rest area at the foot of Ijen volcano, the guide brought us breakfast and bought hot milk, and also got us raincoats. After breakfast, we followed the guide and set off, and the rain kept getting heavier and didn't stop! We started climbing at 2:30 a.m., the whole path was muddy, and the rain got so heavy that we were soaked through. There were porters along the way, and seeing how hard they worked, because it was already difficult to walk, let alone pull people, we couldn't bear to use their services even though we were very tired. Then we climbed up to the volcano by ourselves, it took about an hour, and it kept raining, we rested in a temporary shelter! I will never forget this experience in my life!!! Completely soaked, the raincoat couldn't cover at all. The wind was blowing fiercely, and by six o'clock we still couldn't see the volcano, just a big fog, we could only see the road beneath our feet, so we decided to go back down the mountain! One of the regrets of this trip was that we couldn't see the true face of Ijen volcano, which is quite something, but this experience will never be forgotten! After descending the mountain, it was about a three-hour drive to a hotel near Bromo, where we checked in and rested until midnight, then set off again.
Day 2: We left the hotel at 1 a.m. on 9.15 and arrived at Bromo at 3 a.m. Since there were wildfires that had not been extinguished when we went, we couldn't go to the landscape spot we most wanted to visit, kingkong, as it was closed and not open. So we could only go to the Seruni viewpoint, and we were worried that the rain wouldn't stop, but it did, which was good. On the way up, we could see the sunrise, which was very romantic! And the sky was full of stars, something you can't see in the city! You can ride a horse up! Then it was time for crazy photo taking, the journey was so much better than Ijen, after viewing from the observatory we went down to the foot of the mountain, and because of the wildfires, we couldn't climb the volcano, we could only look from afar at the foot of the mountain! Still, it was quite worth it!

Dangerous yet beautiful—the Ijen Volcano
The Ijen Volcano is an active volcano located in the eastern part of Java Island in Indonesia, famous for its unique blue flames. The volcanic lake in the crater of Ijen is one of the world's largest acidic volcanic lakes, with its surface displaying a turquoise color, known for its high concentration of sulfate. This volcano is also a site for sulfur mining, where hundreds of workers bravely navigate the gas-filled ridges daily to collect sulfur to make a living. Ijen Volcano is a magnificent and mysterious place, attracting tourists from all over the world to explore its unique beauty.
One-day trip strategy
Stay near the Ijen volcano the night before
1:00 Drive to the entrance of the scenic area, buy tickets, rent a gas mask
2:00 Start climbing the mountain, which takes about 2 hours
After reaching, continue down the road to the lakeside to see the blue fire
The blue fire is extinguished at 5:00 every day
After enjoying the blue fire, climb up to the top to overlook the panoramic view
If the weather is good, you can also see the sea of clouds at sunrise

My Ijen Trip!
Mount Ijen, Banyuwangi, Indonesia. A wonderful and memorable trip ...even though we missed the perfect time to see beauty of the blue fire...but we still catched the sunrise ..Don't forget to wear comfortable hiking shoes because there are many hiking waiting for you! It's around 6 km with a hike of 45° so it may be difficult and not recommended for people with health problems and difficulties in breathing and weak heart. In addition, there are many station for stops and toilets. Overall, a very memorable trip ever!

Ethereal Nights at Ijen Crater
Visiting Ijen Crater last October was an otherworldly experience.
The crater’s famous blue flames danced eerily in the night, a surreal sight that required a protective mask due to the intense sulfur fumes. Amidst this volcanic marvel, the landscape was dotted with strangely shaped trees, adding to the mystique of the place. The acidic pool, with its stunning emerald hue, contrasted sharply with the surrounding barrenness.
It’s a challenging journey, but the unique natural phenomena make it an unforgettable adventure. Truly, Ijen Crater is a testament to Earth’s potent beauty.

I've seen volcanoes, but never one as gentle as this
I've seen volcanoes, but never one as gentle as this, emitting blue smoke while also forming a blue lake. The smoke from the burning sulfur lingers around the crater for a long time, making the Yizhen Volcano in the morning light appear even more dreamlike.

Surabaya, Indonesia, Lonely Planet, the world has turned two more pages
The combination of twin volcanoes and waterfall can be said to be the hot combination of Indonesian tourism this year. Standing on the 'Lonely Planet', listening to the roar from the earth's core, at this moment the world is not in the book, but under the feet.
Sharing some travel tips for Surabaya, hope to help your travel plan.
D1 Arrive in Surabaya → Stay at the foot of Boromo Volcano
D2 Get up at 3 o'clock to watch the sunrise of Boromo → Go to the mouth of Bromo Volcano, listen to the roar from the earth's core
D3 Sewu Waterfall (It's really not recommended to put Bromo and Sewu in one day, so there is no time to go to the mouth of Bromo Volcano, and it is likely to rain in the afternoon during the rainy season in Indonesia, and the waterfall will not go down) → Go to Ijen Volcano
D4 Get up at 0 o'clock to climb Ijen! Everything is for the blue fire!!
The journey in Surabaya can be said to be a journey of scenery, every day is a challenge, the body is in practice, but the eyes are in heaven.
Flavorful Forays

World Tour 18th Country|Double Volcano Indonesia is here
Highlights of the itinerary:
1. Bromo Volcano, the place on earth that most resembles the moon, to listen to the roar from the depths of the earth
2. Ljen Volcano, the world's largest high-acid lake, feel the beautiful sunrise cloud sea and blue lake match
3. General Madaj waterfall, Indonesia's second highest waterfall, with a drop of 200 meters, because the road was blocked by heavy rain during the race, changed to General waterfall. You will pass through the waterfall during the journey, but I personally think there are many waterfalls in China, if time is tight, you can skip
4. Magic Forest, a small scenic spot, very photogenic when the sun is out, prepare 2-3h time, go as appropriate
5. Mysterious Komodo
The Komodo day tour is really a surprise, the legendary version of Padar Island, pink beach, jelly sea crescent bay, Komodo dragon, snorkeling to see Nemo, is the most rich day trip I have experienced.
6. Komodo sunset, too beautiful, watching the sky change from orange to pink to blood red, can't bear to blink, beat Bali haha.
7. Bali
I went there for a rest in the middle, Bali is really third-rate scenic spots, second-rate beaches, first-rate hotels, I didn't go to the scenic spots, just picked a net red hotel Ayana to stay for two nights, feel good.

Beautiful Kawah Ijen, Banyuwangi

Mount Ijen | Dare to challenge this blue purgatory in Indonesia?
Why is it Ijen?
Unforgettable volcano hiking trip.
Asia's only volcano where blue flames can be seen - the heart-shaped volcanic lake with a depth of 200 meters.
The world's most acidic turquoise volcanic lake (with a pH value of only about 0.5)
About Yizhen
Mount Ijen is located on the island of Java in Indonesia. Due to the large amount of high-purity sulfur on the ground near the volcano, it appears blue when ignited by magma. It is precisely because of the cool and mysterious blue magma that it has attracted many photography enthusiasts and adventurers to come here.
The mountain scenery here is magnificent and breathtaking, with geological formations eroded by lava resembling the surface of the moon. At sunrise, the sulfuric blue lake changes unpredictably, with a different view every few minutes. At the foot of the mountain are ancient and massive fern plants, as if walking into a Jurassic Park set.
About difficulty
The overall road condition is mainly composed of gravel road surface, which is easy to slip. It is recommended to wear shoes with strong grip. The climb from the campsite to the mountaintop is about 550 meters, with a total distance of about 3KM. It takes about 2 hours to climb up and about 1.5 hours to climb down. The first half is steep and the second half is gentle. The overall difficulty is relatively low, and there are no very dangerous sections.
Regarding fees
On the road, there are hand-pushed carts and taxis available to take you up and down the mountain. Round trip costs 250 yuan, and one-way down the mountain costs 100 yuan.
Sitting in a bamboo basket and being pushed down the mountain is really exciting, you can experience it hahaha.
Time arrangement
The peak period of the blue flame is from 4:00 to 5:00, so you need to start climbing around 2:00 in the morning to see it. However, due to recent volcanic activity (March 2023), the blue flame sightseeing is not open and you can only enter the mountain at 4:00 in the morning.
For those heading to Blue Fire, make sure to communicate with the guide and make reservations in advance, my friends!
Suggested equipment
Hiking shoes/trail running shoes, long pants, thin base layer short-sleeved shirt, fleece jacket, and waterproof shell.
Headlights and gas masks will be provided by the guide, and you can bring your own water and snacks.
Attention Tips:
The sulfur gas is very strong! Be sure to switch to a more professional gas mask.
The departure campsite has a convenience store and restroom. There is a simple shed with coffee halfway up the mountain.
To watch blue fire, luck is also needed, so be sure to keep a calm mindset.
4.30-5.6 Indonesia trip is confirmed.

Ijen, banyuwangi jawa timur
The Ijen volcano complex is a group of composite volcanoes located on the border between Banyuwangi Regency and Bondowoso Regency of East Java, Indonesia.
at the foot of Mount Ijen there is a villa that provides a bed for us at a low price. Besides that, the atmosphere there is very pleasant
Below the Kawaii volcano is a geothermal lake. When you are close, you can see the thick smoke. This is the sulphur that is extremely corrosive. The gold necklace that the friends brought in has a layer of black metal. The handle of the SLR camera was also corroded and could not be used. Sulphur is so tearful that it coughs, coughing, and not staying inside for too long.
There is also a group of people who use the labor and even life to live in the crater. They collect and carry sulphur. Born, an infernal active volcano that is hard to get close to, has maintained the basic livelihoods of sulphur workers and families. They carry sulphur mines from the crater every day, go up the mountain and go down the valley, and breathe gas. This kind of work is repeated more than 10 times a day for 12 hours, resulting in an average life expectancy of 30 years. After a day of work, the miners can get a meager income of about 35 to 40 yuan, which is extremely difficult to survive.
When it comes out, its already getting up early, the hair has been smoked into a sulphur smell, and when you grab it, you can grab a lot of sulfur, 7 I took a car out of the way, and sat in the two-wheeled car that the worker himself modified. It made people feel very excited and felt like driving on a cliff. (A ride of 60 yuan, from the top of the mountain to the foot of the mountain, about 3 hours on foot)

A unique blue-fired volcano-Kawaii
Due to the large amount of high-purity sulfur on the ground near the Kawaii volcanic crater, they will appear blue when ignited by magma, thus attracting many people. There is a crater lake about 1 km wide on the volcano. The lake has a PH value of only 0.5, which is recognized as the most acidic volcanic lake in the world.
Izhen volcano opening time is 2 in the morning
viatravel.
Yizhen volcano is a volcano that can be in contact with static distance. In addition to the magnificent volcanoes, the villages under the hills are surrounded by lush forests.
The pace of life here is slower, people are more willing to take some time to talk to you about the future. There is a world of difference between the hustle and bustle of Indonesia's big cities.
The Indonesian people are curious about the outside world. In this beautiful country, miracles always happen inadvertently.
