The weather was great, and the flowers looked like they were from a comic book against the blue sky. Gucun Park, famous for its cherry blossoms, is located in Baoshan District in the north of Shanghai, and is a huge park with a circumference of just over 10km. There are 16,000 cherry trees planted, with a wide variety of varieties, including Japanese Kawazu cherry, Somei Yoshino, double cherry, Hatsubijin cherry, Guangzhou cherry, Fujian cherry, and Taiwanese cherry. It is one of the most popular cherry blossom spots in Shanghai. The cherry blossom festival is held every year from mid-March, and before COVID-19, it was so popular that an average of 150,000 people visited per day. (I went last year, but it was so crowded that it was difficult to move forward.) This time, I went on March 4th, a little early. The early-blooming Kawazu cherry blossoms were about 30% in bloom (apparently a little later this year), but the cherry blossom trees were starting to bloom in some places, and there were few people, so I was able to take my time looking around. The early-blooming cherry blossoms are around the "Sakura Variety Garden" near Gate 3, and I think they will be at their best in about a week. I think the area around Gate 2 will also be at its best in late March. There are also dinosaur and bird theme parks in the park (additional charge), which are popular with families. This park is extremely huge and during Spring, there will be a lot of 🌸 sakura blossoms for you to view. If you have kids, you'll need to have a full day or even more if your kids love dinosaurs (because there's a dino park within Gucun Park) to see the whole place because its huge. If you're into photography, then I'd suggest to choose weekday and go early. You can take food and camping stuff inside and there are many food options within the park. Gucun park is a beautiful place to visit in Autumn. It is easy to get to on Metro line 7 and the tickets are cheap and easy to get. The park itself is not the most beautiful in Shanghai but this is mostly because it is not an old park and has not yet matured with bigger and older trees. However, there is lots of interesting rides to enjoy. The wheel was a great way to see the park and the surrounding area but the personal highlight was the mini-train which circled some of the park. Even in Autumn there were some beautiful cherry blossom trees to see and it wasn’t busy. I would recommend a half day visit to this park.

Of course at Gucun park! 🌸 Every year this park is running a Cherry Blossom Festival where you can not only enjoy the amazing cherry blossoming trees and nice weather, but also make some #coolpics 📸 Prepare to walk a lot, because this park is just huge. It has a certain area known as Cherry blossom Alley, where the majority of the trees are. Also there is a Farris wheel, if you take that one, be prerared to be blown away by the amazing view (hence the ticket is a bit expensive, 40 yuan). 🌸 Actually to see those trees you don't need to rush to the Alley, cause trees can be found all over the park, but there will be less ppl with cameras so you can get all the view for yourself only. Not far from exit 3 there is a nice rosarium with the roses🌹 that are the size of my heard, a lake (you can rent a boat), and many Chery blossom trees! 🌸 My favourite part about those park is that picnics allowed, so you not only can step on the grass, but very welcomed to. When the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom, they look like clouds and snow. It is recommended to stroll along Cherry Blossom Avenue and the Cherry Blossom Garden, where you can experience the ultimate romance of "cherry blossom rain." 2. There are many additional charges within the park. This problem mainly refers to two places, one is the Dinosaur Park, and the other is the newly launched Cherry Blossom Island this year. The Dinosaur Park is not cost-effective, and even if you have children, it's not recommended. It's a small, boring children's play area with outdated equipment. As for Cherry Blossom Island, it depends on your personal needs. This year, they have opened an evening session to watch the night cherry blossom light show (which is just so-so...). There are also some performances. I heard that there has been so much negative feedback recently that Cherry Blossom Island is now free during the day. So, this problem is solved. In addition, there is now a package ticket that includes a cherry blossom passport, which I highly recommend. It has a cherry blossom viewing strategy map, and you can collect stamps. Day 1 - we arrived and checked in to Novotel Shanghai Atlantis which is an awesome hotel by the way. Proceeded to go to Haichang Ocean Park to spend the day. We saw One Piece and Ultraman which was a surprise for us as we are only expecting the usual aquariums and dolphin shows. At night, went to Shanghai Tower for an awesome view of the city Day 2: Went to Yu Yuan Garden and spent the day admiring the ancient structures and eating Nanxiang Steam Bun Xiao Long Baos and King Size Crab roe bun. Strolled through The Bund afterwards and returned to Shiliupu Pier in the evening to do the Huangpu River Cruise to see the Skyline illuminated making Shanghai almost like a Golden City. Day 3: Went to Gucun Park to admire the cherry blossoms and bird show. Went to the huge Starbucks roastery afterwards to chill and in the evening went to Lalaport Shanghai to view the amazing Freedom Gundam statue Day 4: Went again to the Bund to ride the Bund Waitan Tunnel attraction and then went up to the Oriental Pearl Tower to view the exhilirating transparent deck. Went afterwards to Tianzifang for shopping then said goodbye to Novotel Shanghai Atlantis to then check in to Shanghai Disneyland Hotel. After checking in, went straight ahead to Disney Town via the amazing Wishing star Lake Ferry for shopping Disney Merch. Day 5 - Full day at Shanghai Disney Land. As the park is humongous, we prioritized rides such as the awesome Zootopia Hot Pursuit and Pirates ride, watching all the parades and viewing the night show Illuminate! which is the best we have viewed so far Day 6: Finally, we spent another day at Shanghai Disney Land to watch the shows such as mickey's story book and Frozen. Sadly Pirates show was on maintenance during our visit but nonetheless we took our time to admire the park. We left for our flight and viewed Shanghai for one last time.
