Guangzhou is a super city! There is plenty to do and see. There is an exciting mixture of old and new China. Moreover there is an abundance of greenery and parks to escape the fast pace of the city centre. A stroll along the river is a cherry on the top of each exciting day's experience. Getting There - The Baiyun International Airport is to the north of the city, about a 45min taxi ride into town. There are also 4 railway stations across the city. The two stations that are closest to the city's attractions are the North Station and the East Station. Attractions - For the purposes of tourism, I would divide the city into 2 parts: the old city centre a bit to the west and the new city centre a bit to the east. In the older part of town is located the former European concessions, the Sun Yat Sen Memorial, People's Park, Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, and Liuhua Lake Park. To the east is the newer modern city centre with its skyscrapers, and big malls. Here you can see the famous Canton Tower, the Guangzhou Museum and Library, and all the fancy shops close by. Hotels - We stayed at East Coast Hotel. Not a bad mid-budget hotel between the old and new city centres. Food & Restaurants - For local cuisine, there are plenty of small restaurants dotted about the small streets near People's Park and along the river. For international cuisine, the big malls at the Zhujiang New Town area is your best bet. Shopping - Zhujiang New Town's malls would also be the best place to shop in the city. #urbanexplorer

The ticket to the Memorial Hall is 10 yuan, and people over 60 years old or with disabilities can get half price. The Memorial Hall is kept clean and tidy, and displays historical deeds and items. Now I know that Sun Yat-sen’s marriage certificate is mixed with Japanese versions. The architecture of the auditorium is magnificent and worth visiting!

A statue of Sun Yat-sen was erected in front of the main entrance. What I like most is its surrounding with beautiful trees and shade. Coming here during spring time, around March when the flower will blossom and create a very beautiful landscape.

Concerts are also sometimes held in the main hall. From behind the memorial hall, enter Yuexiu Park and climb several hundred stairs to reach another Sun Yat-sen memorial, a huge stone obelisk. It's usually possible to climb to the viewing platform of this tower, though not to the top. The atmosphere is quiet but not lonely because there are many locals walking around, taking pictures, and resting. The building is very large. The red color contrasts with the blue roof. It stands out so much that you have to turn and look when you walk past it. 📸 Inside, there is an exhibition telling the story of Sun Yat-sen in a concise way. You can walk around and have fun without being serious. Another highlight is the large square in front of the hall with his statue. The atmosphere is very good. #discoverchina Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall was built during 1929~1931 in memory of the great revolutionist Sun Yat-sen. It is one of the symbols of Guangzhou. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall itself has an outlook of traditional Chinese building, but it also has delicate interior designs of western building. Covering an area of 6.3 hectares, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is located at the former site of Sun Yat-sen’ s office on the south slope of Yuexiu Hill. It is bigger than all other Sun Yat-sen memorial halls around the world. In addition, its architectural design also attracts many tourists. It combines perfectly the architectural style of both China and western countries. You could see the main building of the hall was constructed in a traditional Chinese palace style with an octagonal shape from the outside. However, from the inside of it you can’t see even one pillar as traditional Chinese building. #guangzhou
