Hey guys👫, the Thousand Buddha Cliff in Jinan has reopened👏. The cliff was first carved during the Wude period of the Tang dynasty, and was also carved during the Song, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, so it has a lot of history🤩. There are more than 100 caves, over 210 statues, and five large statue caves. The cliff is a national key cultural relic protection unit, and the Buddhist statues in Shandong are definitely worth seeing😉. We can travel with a mindset of learning about ancient history and experience the charm of the caves🥰.

The Qianfo Cliff Statue, also known as the Shentong Temple Statue, is located at the eastern foot of Baihu Mountain in Licheng District, Jinan City, Shandong Province. It was excavated in the second year of the Wude Period of the Tang Dynasty (619). The Thousand Buddha Cliff Statues are divided into three parts: the statues, the Dragon and Tiger Pagoda and the Nine-peaked Pagoda. The statue group is about 7 meters high and 65 meters long from north to south. There are more than 100 existing caves and niches. Most of them are arched in shape and connected to form a cliff shape. There are more than 200 statues in total. The Thousand Buddha Cliff Statues have a high reference value for the study of religious art during the Tang Dynasty. Among them, the Dragon and Tiger Pagoda has a unique shape among Tang Dynasty pagodas, and the carvings are particularly clear and complete, showing the unique style of sculpture in the Tang Dynasty. [One] There are more than 100 stone caves and niches, mostly in the shape of round arches, connected into a cliff shape, with more than 200 statues, mostly from the early Tang Dynasty such as Zhenguan and Xianqing. The statues were mostly made by the royal family, nobles, officials, and monks for blessings. [Two] Longhu Pagoda is a Tang Dynasty pavilion-style pagoda, with a Tang Dynasty stone base and body, and a Song Dynasty brick top. The pagoda body is made of stone slabs, with arched doors on all four sides, with reliefs of heavenly kings and warriors on the north and south sides, and bodhisattva disciples on the east and west sides, with dragons and tigers, flying deities, and rolling clouds. The pagoda chamber has square columns, with a Buddha statue on each side. The pagoda body has a double-eave brick roof, with double-jump brackets under the eaves, and a waist-level flat seat on top, with an inverted lotus plate, and a pagoda finial with a wheel. 3[Three] Jiuding Pagoda is a single-story octagonal pavilion-style brick pagoda, with nine small pagodas on top, and an arched door on the south side. The pagoda eaves are stacked and protruding, with an octagonal flat seat on top, with eight small three-eave square pagodas, and a large square pagoda in the center, with a clear hierarchy. Just walk up north from the springs square 2km and voila! 😍 There are gorgeous temples and Buddha statues scattered all over the park. We were looking for the Thousand Buddha hill and bumped into this one instead so we gave it a shot. It was a bit of a hike with beautiful views and nice temples along the way up to rest and refresh with small vendors. It is a big high up the hill but totally worth jt! #jinan #temple #hike
