The statue was erected by Edinburghs in memory of a dog named Poppy who was loyal to his owner. The owner of this puppy was buried in the cemetery of Graffie Church after his death. The puppy has been accompanying the owner in the cemetery for 14 years. Later, it was found dead beside the owner's tomb. The puppy was buried in an exception. The cemetery of the church is always with the owner. GreyfriarsBobby'sBar, a restaurant named after a loyal dog, is located next to the monument.
