The Grand Baoen Temple Heritage & Scenic Area is located on the south bank of Qinghai river near Zhonghua gate in Nanjing. The museum depicts the birth of buddhism as a religion in China & the history of the temple which stands as a giant structure made of porcelain. I’m not a big fan of museums, but this one was truly mind blowing with relics, carvings, paintings & and immersive art exhibition. There are few restaurants inside with a Costa coffee & ice cream vendors. At the exit, grab some artsy souvenirs from the massive gift shop. This place was bigger and more magnificent than I expected. You can easily spend 1 to 2 hours inside viewing all the displays. To get there, I took a taxi from Xuanwu Lake, and it cost around 25 yuan. The entrance fee was 90 yuan, and it was worth it. They didn't only have displays but also different VR experiences. When you arrive, you need to go downstairs (staircase to the left) to buy tickets before going through the entrance. The Grand Bao'en Temple is located outside the Chinese gate of Qinhuai District. It is the second temple in China after the Baima Temple in Luo Yang and the first Buddhist temple in southern china. Upon entering the site, the first thing that caught my eye was the majestic and awe-inspiring Porcelain Tower. Known as the "Great Antique of China, the Great Kiln of Yongle," this pagoda glistens in the sunlight, as if narrating a millennium of history. As I walked slowly along the central axis, each step felt like a journey through the annals of time. The Chinese Tripitaka Museum, the Hall of Gratitude, and the Gandhara Sculpture Art Exhibition, among other exhibition halls, were full of surprises. I savored the stories behind each artifact, feeling the history and culture they embodied. The underground palace relics, in particular, with their national treasure-level artifacts that have withstood the test of time, left me in awe. The Porcelain Tower at night offered a different kind of charm. I made a point to stay until nightfall to witness the dazzling lighting ceremony. Under the glow of the lights, the Porcelain Tower appeared even more mysterious and magnificent, like a dreamlike tower transcending time and space.
