Hangzhou City Walk in Autumn: 5 Stunning Routes Only Locals Know!
Autumn is the most beautiful season in Hangzhou!
Golden ginkgo leaves look like little fans, while fiery red maple leaves resemble burning flames. The willows along the embankment sway gracefully in the autumn breeze, making the whole season look like a colorful painting.
Without further ado, here are five City Walk routes that only Hangzhou locals know.
Day 1️⃣ Grand Canal Zhijie City Walk: Xiaohe Historical Zhijie Street ➡️ Gongchen Bridge West Historical and Cultural Block ➡️ Xiaohe Park ➡️ Dadou Road Historical and Cultural Block ➡️ Xiangji Temple.
Day 2️⃣ Red Maple Tour: Lushui Fuchu ➡️ Autumn Moon Over the Calm Lake ➡️ Quyuan Fenghe ➡️ Guo's Villa ➡️ Prince Bay Park ➡️ Viewing Fish at Flower Harbor.
Day 3️⃣ Ginkgo Viewing Route: Hangzhou Tower ➡️ Qingyin Street ➡️ King Qian's Temple ➡️ Great Buddha Temple Ruins.

Here are some photo spots.
❤️ Xiaohe Zhijie: Walking here feels like being in the "Dali" of Hangzhou. Walking on the road paved with blue bricks and small tiles, you can feel the leisurely pace of life.
❤️ Hangzhou Tower: Don't miss Hangzhou Tower at the end of November. The two ginkgo trees are stunning, and seeing them from the elevator is incredibly romantic!
❤️ Lushui Fuchu: If you want a good spot, be sure to get up early. The most beautiful time is usually when the sun just rises, as if you can capture all four seasons of Hangzhou in your lens.
❤️ Liangzhu Ancient City Ruins Park: Liangzhu in late autumn is simply breathtaking, with rice fields, reed marshes, and cute deer.
❤️ Jianghu Hui Guanting: Here, you can capture West Lake and Chenghuang Pavilion in the same frame.
Here are some tips.
1️⃣ Be sure to check the weather forecast before going out, as it has been quite rainy in Hangzhou recently.
2️⃣ Before traveling, I made a plan on Yuanzhou Travel. As soon as I opened it, there were travel plans for Hangzhou. You can edit them yourself or invite friends to edit travel routes together. It also supports options for public transportation, self-driving, and walking, with the time required for different modes of transportation displayed. It's really convenient!

I would be sad if anyone missed the night view here in Hangzhou
A Gongchen Bridge, half of Hangzhou's history
When traveling to Hangzhou, be sure to leave one night here whether for sightseeing, checking in, or the historical culture carried by this route is worth savoring slowly. You can start strolling from the evening
Feel the slow life from day to night on the old street by the canal, and you can also experience Hangzhou's characteristic water bus to tour the scenery on both sides of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. When night falls and the lights are on, watch the boats shuttle on the canal
The light is sprinkled on the water, sparkling, and there is a feeling of dreaming back to the Tang Dynasty
Route arrangement:
Take a boat from Wulinmen Wharf⏩Gongchen Bridge⏩Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street⏩Xiaohe Straight Street⏩Eat and watch the night view
Travel tips:
❤️It only costs 3r to take a water bus at Wulinmen Wharf. The boat sails along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. There are many ancient buildings on both sides, as if seeing the prosperity of a thousand years ago
❤️Gongchen Bridge is the tallest and longest stone arch bridge in Hangzhou, witnessing Hangzhou's prosperity by the river, it is a landmark of Hangzhou
❤️The entrance to Qiaoxi Cultural Street is next to Gongchen Bridge. It has witnessed the architectural features and strong market atmosphere of local city construction in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The Umbrella Museum, Fan Museum, Sword Museum, and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Museum are all here
❤️Xiaohe Straight Street has gathered many literary and artistic shops, you can slow down and take pictures here, drink coffee, stroke cats, and daze. The New Year lanterns decorated during the Spring Festival are full of atmosphere~ Find a small pub by the river at night, drinking and eating while watching the night view, it's so cozy~
❤️If you have enough time, you can also go to Xiangji Temple, take a stroll on Dadou Road, and feel the charm of the Jiangnan Water Village with white walls, black tiles, and wooden doors

✅ The overall environment of the ginkgo trees is similar to that on Qingyin Street
✅ The street is not long, so it's easy to check in

Bridges in Hangzhou.
Stepping onto Gongchen Bridge is like embarking on a magical journey through time.
This ancient stone arch bridge lies quietly over the canal like a wise elder. The bridge is made of large stones, each bearing the marks of time. Walking on the bridge, the stone slabs beneath your feet are uneven, a result of countless footsteps and the passage of time. Standing at the top of the bridge, a gentle breeze brushes your face, and the canal water flows slowly beneath, shimmering in the light. The willows on both banks sway gently, as if dancing.
On one side of the bridge is a district full of ancient charm, with white walls and black-tiled buildings arranged in an orderly fashion. The old shops sell traditional handicrafts, exquisite and beautiful, and display vintage items that evoke memories. The nearby museum is like a treasure trove of culture, quietly waiting for people to explore.
Looking from the other side of the bridge, the bustling city is faintly visible. Gongchen Bridge is like a connection point in time and space, with one end tied to ancient history and culture, and the other connected to modern urban life. It has witnessed the rise and fall of the canal and the development of the times. Here, every step reveals the unique charm of the intertwining of history and modernity.

📍: To Bridge West Historical and Cultural Block by bus

Food: (depends on personal preference)
Youbu Soy Milk: An old Hangzhou breakfast shop that still attracts many customers even at night
Taking a walk to Bridge West, having a bowl of Ban Chuan, getting a Lu Zu divine fortune stick, and feeling the evening breeze by the canal, I finally blew away the fatigue from the past 7 days of shift work. After all, the weekend is finally here!

It's hard to believe this is in downtown Hangzhou
It's hard to believe this is in downtown Hangzhou
Apart from West Lake, there's also this place in Hangzhou that's great for a rainy day! The night view is even more beautiful than the hometown of the Sage of Calligraphy in Shaoxing! It must be very comfortable to sit on the bench opposite in the autumn dusk, watching the scenery and chatting.
Gongchen Bridge, the main attraction is on the west historical and cultural district side, after strolling around it's just right to cross the bridge to see the night view of the district on the other side, the whole journey takes about 2 hours.
2024.02.21.17:00, light rain.
The timing and weather are just right, it might be a bit less interesting on a sunny day. It should be even better if it snows in a couple of days!
The night view across the district is absolutely stunning, remember to wear shoes with thick soles when it rains, as even light rain can easily lead to large areas of water accumulation, soaking your shoes through
But the night view is really worth it

The ginkgo in Hangzhou is in its prime at this moment. The weather is also good this weekend, so you can go with confidence!
Address: Navigate to Decathlon (Shangtang Road Store)
Subway: Line 5, Gongchen Bridge East C exit, walk 800 meters
Photo spots:
There are two ginkgo forests at the entrance of Decathlon, both are very good, and the place is big enough. The afternoon light is great
There is also a ginkgo forest across the road, where you can take very clean pictures of ginkgo falling all over the ground. But the afternoon light is not as good as there, it is more suitable to come here in the morning,
Mainly quiet with fewer people, don't miss it

|Hangzhou, there's more than just the West Lake. Step into Hangzhou, explore every corner of the city, combined with the enthusiastic recommendations of local friends and our personal experience, we have carefully planned four characteristic citywalk routes for friends who come to Hangzhou for the Spring Festival. Each route has its own charm, enough to arrange a whole day's itinerary, full of festive atmosphere, very suitable for play during the Spring Festival.
We stroll together on these routes, enjoying the different scenery, the Spring Festival spent with friends and family is more precious than usual.
🌸 West Lake Plum Blossom Spring Route
Qianwang Temple—Liulang Wenying—Leifeng Tower—Jingci Temple—Huagang Guanyu—Jiangzhuang
At Qianwang Temple, appreciate the wax plum and white plum that have bloomed one after another, and feel the lively atmosphere of the Spring Flower Market. Then, stroll along Liulang Wenying, with the beautiful scenery of West Lake in sight. Next, we go to Leifeng Tower and Jingci Temple, listen to the melodious Nanping Evening Bell, and appreciate the charming red plum. If time permits, you can also go to Jiangzhuang, where a huge king of plum blossoms is waiting for us.
🚌 Grand Canal CityWalk New Year Route
Water Bus No.1 Line—Gongchen Bridge—Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal Museum—Qiaoxi Straight Street—Xiaohe Park—Xiaohe Straight Street—Dadou Road—Xiangji Temple
Along the route of the Grand Canal, we visited the characteristic old streets of Hangzhou and many interesting museums. Along the way, various New Year installations are dotted, and the New Year's atmosphere is coming. At night, there are poetry lights on Dadou Road to light our way. The distance between each attraction is not far, and it can be reached in seven or eight minutes on foot.
🧧 Temple Blessing Route
Faxi Temple—Fajing Temple—Fajing Temple—Lingyin Temple—Yongfu Temple—Taoguang Temple—The First Wealth God Temple in the World
The New Year's blessing route that must be visited every year, especially Yongfu Temple and Taoguang Temple, are small and quiet, and the plum blossoms and camellias are particularly brilliant. This Asian Games route is great for strolling and taking pictures!
Compared to the always crowded West Lake, I actually prefer this less popular Asian Games tour route, which is very suitable for walking➕photography, sharing some photo check-in locations, friends who are going to go recently hurry up and mark it~
🚶♀️My photo route: Xiangji Temple Square——Xiaohe Straight Street——Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street——Gongchen Bridge
-
1️⃣Xiangji Temple:
A thousand-year-old temple on the side of the canal, quiet in the midst of noise, next to it is a high-rise building, the picture of ancient civilization and modern society in the same scene, quite impactful.
Photo points:
▪️Xiangji Temple Square, that is, this area at the entrance, take a picture from under the tree on the right, use the leaves as the foreground;
▪️Dashingenna King Hall, each person can get 3 incense for free, you can capture some pictures of worship;
▪️The small roads on both sides, people can pretend to walk casually, with the temple building as the background;
▪️There are often monks passing by in the temple, wait more and you can take pictures.
2️⃣Xiaohe Straight Street:
The architectural style and street structure of Xiaohe Straight Street are all rebuilt during the Republic of China period, and you can always find some traces of the times left behind, which is also one of the fun of my citywalk.
Photo points:
▪️Along the river path, there is a door every short distance that can go directly to the river, use the door to create a sense of space for shooting;
▪️The entrance of the shop, the door design of Xiaohe Straight Street is very distinctive, there are various flower installations, some even have seats, very Dali feeling;
▪️Street side wall, ancient wooden doors and large jars for brewing wine, etc., can make your photos more vivid;
▪️In the middle of the street, the narrow street is crowded with people, very human.
3️⃣Qiaoxi Historical and Cultural Street➕Gongchen Bridge
The two points are actually together, here is very suitable for shooting national style, Hanfu and cheongsam can be.
Photo points:
▪️The entrance of Gongchen Bridge is a street with a very ancient life atmosphere, the roof is hung with the banner of Fang Hui Chun Tang, very age-sensitive;
▪️Along the river street, there are large lotus flowers🪷 by the river, the background is old buildings;
▪️The main street and the fork, the whole block is very good to shoot, there will be some small forks in the middle, the wall is hung with big character posters shop name, also very good to shoot.

Gongyu Bridge is located in the north of Daguan Bridge in the urban area of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. It is connected to Lishui Road and Taizhou Road in the east, and to the Xiaonong Road in the west. It is the tallest and longest stone arch bridge in the ancient bridge of Hangzhou. The Arch Bridge was built in the Ming Dynasty for four years. At that time, people wished Huafeng and raised funds to build bridges. In the eight years of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, the bridge collapsed. In the 53rd year of Emperor Kangxi, Duan Zhixi advocated and made a donation by Buzheng. The Huiyun monk of Linyun Temple tried his best to raise donations and helped the four-year-old build the present arch bridge. The bridge is 98 meters long and 16 meters high. The middle section of the bridge is slightly narrower at 5.9 meters wide, while the bridges at both ends are 12.2 meters wide.

The 98-meter-long arch bridge on the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is the symbol of Hangzhou City. When you arrive at the Arch Bridge, it means entering Hangzhou. This bridge is currently the largest and highest ancient bridge in Hangzhou. It was built in the Ming Dynasty (1631) and rebuilt in the 11th year of Qing Guangxu (1888).
The west side of the Gonghang Bridge of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal is an open leisure area, which is quaint and continues the prosperity of hundreds of years. The east bank of the canal is an industrial area, which is also the earliest national industrial origin in Zhejiang.
In 1895, after the signing of the Sino-Japanese Treaty of Shimonoseki, which was humiliating and humiliating the country, Hangzhou was listed as a trading port, and Hangzhou also produced the only concession area.
A hundred years ago, on the banks of the Grand Canal, tea gardens were everywhere, and famous monks from all over the country gathered at the Gongzhu Bridge. The Gongyu Bridge is a famous performing arts center in the country.
1901, 14-year-old Zhang Yingjie came to Hangzhou to rent a banquet in the Japanese concession, because he sang old people, the old man at that time is Tan Rutian (Xin Pei) has the highest reputation.
Zhang Yingjie is young and strong, named after the name, began to hang this famous brand at the door of Tianxian Tea Garden.
This is also the origin of Hangzhou's industrial prosperity. The first railway in Zhejiang, Jiangshu Railway, was opened near the Gongyu Bridge. The first national industrial enterprise in Zhejiang, Tongyi Gong Yarn Factory, was founded, and the first theater in Hangzhou was born. The first cinema, the first newspaper.
River2014.
Arch Bridge is a symbol of the prosperous town in the North of Hangzhou. It became an important figure in modernization in Hangzhou from 1895 to 1945. Residents that live in Arch Bridge have a rich cultural life. For example, the temples, theatres, cinemas, newspapers and domesticated animals have greatly enriched their lives.
During the Republic of China, the development of the Gongyu Bridge changed a little. In terms of architecture, the house has changed from a traditional Chinese house, to a rich and varied “World Architecture Exhibition.” On the commercial side, due to geographical disadvantages and a malformation of the bridge, the Japanese eventually gave up on their development and the business entered a state of decline.
