Gochang County, South Korea
Gochang County is located at the southwestern end of Jeollabuk-do. It borders Jeongeup City and Buan County to the northeast, Jangseong County and Yeonggwang County of Jeollanam-do to the southeast, and the West Sea to the northwest.

Historical and Cultural Sites
- Seonunsa Temple: Located halfway up the northern side of Seonunsan Mountain, it is the head temple of the 24th Diocese of the Jogye Order. With a history of over 1,500 years, the temple houses cultural heritage items such as a gilt-bronze seated Bodhisattva statue. The surrounding area is full of fascinating rock formations and stunning scenery.
- Munsu Temple: Situated halfway up Munsu Mountain, it was founded in the 4th year of King Uija of Baekje. It boasts several buildings, including Daeungjeon Hall and Munsujeon Hall, as well as dozens of maple trees over 200 years old, creating a breathtaking autumn landscape.
- Gochang Hyanggyo: A public school established by the state during the Joseon Dynasty. It was founded in the 7th year of King Jungjong and relocated to its current site in the 22nd year of King Seonjo. The Hyanggyo includes buildings such as Daeseongjeon Hall and Myeongnyundang Hall, and Seokjeon Daeje, a Confucian memorial ceremony, is held twice a year in spring and autumn.
- Dolmen Sites: Gochang County has numerous dolmen sites, which are important archaeological sites for studying ancient Korean history and culture. Some of these dolmens are quite large and relatively well-preserved, holding significant historical and cultural value.
Natural Scenery
- Seonunsan Mountain: Known as the "Inner Geumgang of Honam," it was designated as a provincial park in 1979. With peaks formed by bizarre rocks and lush forests, visitors can follow the stream path uphill to admire natural wonders such as the long sand pine trees, Jinheunggul Cave, Bongduam Rock, and Sajabawi Rock.
- Ungok Ramsar Wetland: A wetland with a beautiful ecological environment, it boasts a rich wetland ecosystem and serves as a habitat for many migratory birds. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful wetland scenery and observe various rare birds and plants.
