It is 427.5m above sea level, 178m high, 2,861m in circumference, 613,966㎡ in area, and 1,200m in outer circumference of the crater, making it a representative oreum in the western central mountainous region of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. Since the Gojoseon period, the words geom, gam, gom, and geum have been used, and they have the same meaning as gom, which means god. Therefore, Geummoreum has been considered sacred since ancient times as an oreum that means god. It is written in various ways in Chinese characters, such as Geum-eul-ak (琴乙岳, 金乙岳), Heuk-ak (黑岳), and Geum-ak (今岳, 琴岳). It is a new parasitic volcano with two peaks running north and south and a low saddle running east and west, and a 52m deep circular crater and a crater lake called Geumakdam (今岳潭) on the summit. The crater is classified as a spherical volcano (homate) because it is long and oval from north to south. The crater, which is sunken in the middle, is low compared to the entire area of the mountain and has so little water that the bottom is exposed. It looks different depending on the viewing angle; it looks cone-shaped when viewed from the south or north, and trapezoidal when viewed from the east or west. There are sparsely growing zelkova trees and yutnori trees on the slopes inside the crater, and the entire mountain is covered with grassland, with grass plants such as pine, wild chrysanthemum, and thistle. Except for the northern slope, all slopes are planted with pine and fir trees. There is a cement road leading to the KBS relay station on the southern peak of the mountain, making it easy to climb. The day after it rains, the water in the middle of the crater is more beautiful.
