Sharing a Hakka Style Noodle Restaurant in Shenzhen — Hakka Marinated Noodles (Gankeng Ancient Town Branch)
Sharing a recent dinner experience at a Hakka cuisine restaurant in Gankeng Ancient Town — Hakka Marinated Noodles.
📍Address: No. 18 Ganli Road, Gankeng Community, Jihua Street, Longgang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province (Southeast corner of Gankeng Ancient Town)
Hakka Marinated Noodles is a nostalgic old shop. The restaurant's signboard at the entrance labels it as a Hakka Style Noodle Restaurant and mentions that it has been operating in Gankeng Ancient Town for 12 years.
I ordered their signature dish, marinated noodles. The noodles are paired with a unique sauce, and every bite is rich in flavor. However, the marinated noodles are quite simple and not particularly special. As for their soup, it is refreshing and not greasy, quite good!
Besides marinated noodles, their recommended tofu is worth a try. As for other dishes like steamed dumplings and fish, the taste is average.

Recommended Double-Skin Milk at Tai Qing Liang Cha Dessert Shop (Gankeng Ancient Town Branch)
This weekend, I discovered an amazing dessert shop in Gankeng Ancient Town, Shenzhen—Tai Qing Liang Cha! 🌟 The environment here is very comfortable, paired with the ancient town's vibe, giving a leisurely atmosphere. 👍
📍 Address: Shop 116-11-2, 7 Du, Jihua Street, Longgang District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province
I particularly recommend their double-skin milk, it's really delicious! 👅
This dessert has a smooth texture, rich milk flavor, and distinct layers. One bite and you'll want another bowl. The outer layer is smooth, while the inside is delicate and milky, with just the right amount of sweetness, not too cloying. Highly recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
You can pair the double-skin milk with lotus seeds/red beans 🫘, which elevates the taste even more! 🫶🏻
If you visit Gankeng Ancient Town, don't miss Tai Qing Liang Cha's double-skin milk, it will leave you wanting more! 💯

Additionally, I recommend visiting the café in the town -> Xiaoyin Yushi • Xunta Xiaoyuan (Gankeng Ancient Town Branch). It's perfect for taking photos in Tang costumes, overlooking the ancient pagoda. The average cost is CNY$75 per person.

Gankeng Hakka Town
History, cuisine and fun in one small town.
It is located at Longgang District, Shenzhen. We usually just take bus 980 to get here.
We have been here for 3 times for food and scenery but they have everything in one compact place. Restaurants, street foods, coffee, book store, boutiques and some place for fun like VR and mini F1 car racing which we have yet to try.
Our visits here was always pleasant whether its winter or summer, crowded or not. We will always come here for family walks and bonding.

A must-see in Shenzhen—walk into the ancient town of Gankeng, which is like Spirited Away
#Mainland China Attractions #Mainland Customs Clearance
I went to Shenzhen for a day during the holiday, and went to the famous attraction here - Ganhang Ancient Town🏮, about 50 minutes drive from Futian.
But it turns out that this ancient town is quite big, there are many carefully decorated shops inside, once you enter the door, a very large lake, so that people feel very poetic 👍🏻
And the architecture of many houses is antique, if you come at dusk, the houses will also be lit up, have their own feeling of Thousand and One Nights, no wonder it is so popular🧡

Gankeng Hakka Small Town | Shenzhen
Situated in Longgang district, you can take a bus, metro line 10 or a taxi and make your way here with ease though it’s quite a distance from the city.
This is a small ancient town filled with coat streets boasting ancient treasures and of course food. the alleys are perfect for photography and they’re really small so they do look great in front of the lens.
Since it’s only a drive from the city centre, there are plenty of hotels and a few in Longgang district too. Infact once you’re in Longgang you’re not too far from the beach!
There is plenty of Chinese food available. Most alleys serve some form of food or snacks and of course there are many souvenir shops in the ancient town.

Historical Hakka Life
#passionpassport
Gankeng is a continual maze of narrow alleyways, each with its own decoration and style. The area is incredibly photogenic and provides opportunities for some great shots. It’s worth exploring each of these narrow alleys as you never know what you will discover. There are also the traditional Hakka courtyards and residences that remain unchanged over time.
The walls have murals and art splashed around to give a sense of character, and it’s also recommended to ‘look up’ as above your head there will likely be something to see.
Gankeng Hakka town is not the biggest nor the oldest, but it does have its own unique charm and is worth a few hours of your time, especially if you are nearby. Owned and operated by the OCT group it has been updated and renovated to meet the needs of a modern city, this retains its charm while catering for the younger crowd who desire services and convenience. So, dotted amongst the older buildings and alleyways you’ll find the usual tea shops and local restaurants, but this doesn’t take away from the area, it simply is what is it is.
You will also find remnants of the original structure here, such as the imposing entrance gate and the fortification wall. A throwback to what it must have looked like during its prime.
So, although not Shenzhen’s most impressive sight, I do think it is worth some time out fo your life to check it out, especially if you have seen most of the ‘top attractions’ and are looking for something new to see. But please be prepared this place gets very busy on the weekends.

A Journey Back in Time: The Tranquil Trip to Gankeng Ancient Town
Morning sunlight spills onto the paths of Gankeng Ancient Town, with ancient trees gently swaying by the roadside, as if whispering the stories of this place to me. Stepping into the ancient town, the cobblestone road stretches out before me, flanked by well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, their weathered walls bearing the marks of time. The air in the ancient town is filled with a faint aroma of tea and the tempting scent of local snacks, making one slow down to savor the experience.
Strolling along the riverside, the gentle flow of water complements the tranquility of the ancient town, with handicraft stalls everywhere attracting me to stop and admire. The artistic atmosphere in the ancient town is enchanting, with artists' creations injecting new vitality into the place. I tasted local tea in a small teahouse, feeling the blend of tea fragrance and the deep heritage of the ancient town, as if I had instantly traveled back to that ancient era.
