Fushimi Inari: A Breathtaking Cultural Treasure
#summervacay
Fushimi Inari is a must-visit cultural gem in Kyoto, famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that create a breathtakingly beautiful scene. When we visited in the afternoon, the crowds were overwhelming, so we purified ourselves before entering. For ¥1,000, we wrote down our wishes on a small fox-shaped wooden plaques called Ema and hung them in the designated area.
Due to the crowds, we didn't hike to the top, and even navigating through the gates required some careful maneuvering. Visiting in the morning might be a better option to avoid the large crowd . Before leaving, we enjoyed some delicious street food nearby. A truly unique experience that showcases Kyoto's rich culture.

⛩️ Fushimi Inari Shrine – A Kyoto Icon You Can’t Miss ✨
If you’re in Kyoto, this is a must-visit spot 📍
Went there around 4pm and it was such a nice walk through the red torii gates⛩️ super iconic Kyoto vibe.
It wasn’t too crowded by that time, which made it more chill to explore. Didn’t go all the way to the top, but still enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.
Oh—and I saw the super chubby cat just chilling there like he owned the place 😂 made my day even better!

Day in Kyoto - Exploring Fushimi Inari Shrine ⛩️
Spent the day wandering through the breathtaking Fushimi Inari Shrine, one of Kyoto’s most famous landmarks. The endless rows of vibrant torii gates create an almost otherworldly atmosphere as you walk up the mountain trails. It’s easy to see why this place is so special—it’s peaceful, beautiful, and full of history.
If you’re planning to visit, I’d definitely recommend coming early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. The hike to the top takes around 1.5–2 hours, but even if you don’t go all the way up, there are plenty of scenic spots along the way. Also, don’t forget to try some local street food near the entrance—some of the best snacks I’ve had in Japan!

Fushimi Inari Shrine
Fushimi Inari Shrine
⛩️🍂🎏 is a Shinto shrine of the god Inari, the god of agriculture. The shrine is located on a mountainside at an altitude of 233 meters above sea level, which also has the same name as the mountain, Mt. Inari.
🍂⛩️🍁 The shrine is notable for the tens of thousands of red torii gates behind the shrine, forming a walkway throughout Mt. Inari, which people believe to be a sacred mountain. The god Inari represents fertility, rice harvests, and various crops, and is often accompanied by foxes. Therefore, it is not surprising to see many fox statues inside the shrine.
