Self-driving can navigate to the "Furong Town Tourist Center" to reach the scenic area parking lot (charged). If you live in a homestay in the scenic area, you can find the homestay owner in advance. Generally, you can park at the door of the homestay. Group tickets: 103 for adults, 60 for children/elderly. Find the homestay owner to book it cheaper, you can ask in advance! Getting There - go to the bus terminal in Zhangjiajie. buy the ticket and wait for the next available bus. It costs around ¥30 and takes around 2 hours. Wear your seatbelt - it’s a bumpy ride. Sitting in the bus is a beautiful way to observe rural farms and natural China mountain scenery. Attractions - you are required to buy the ticket to enter the scenic town. There’s a waterfall you can walk under, you can ride the boat, you can find a restaurant with a beautiful view. There’s even an outdoor cinema. Choose the things you like. You can do everything in one or two days. Hotels - the hotels inside the tourist area are more expensive. If you don’t mind walking for 10-15 minutes you can get a pretty cheap room on the main road before entering the water villiage. If you prefer luxury - try to find the hotel with the good view. There is good availability and many places to choose from. Food & Restaurants - many restaurants here serve delicious Hunan dishes. Try to find the place to eat where you can see the waterfall and enjoy fresh fish from the river. Delicious! Shopping - there are lots of little shops to buy souvenirs, cold drinks or ice cream. #springitinerary Furong Zhen is the kinda place that makes you go whoa the second you see it. Built right on a cliff with a huge waterfall flowing through the middle, it’s honestly one of the coolest ancient towns I’ve been to. In spring, it’s extra pretty, flowers blooming, mist in the air, and that fresh mountain vibe that just hits different. The streets are narrow and full of old-school charm, with little shops selling snacks and souvenirs. You’ve gotta try the local fried tofu and sweet rice cakes, so good. It’s not super crowded in spring, so you can really take your time wandering, snapping pics, and just soaking in the chill. At night, the lights around the waterfall make it feel straight out of a fantasy movie. If you're into peaceful views, cozy towns, and nature mixed with history, Furong Zhen is totally worth the trip. Spring there? Pure magic.

Three incredibly beautiful old towns 🤩 1) #furongzhen ancient village - a really pretty village with an incredible double waterfall. It is small and cute and apparently became very popular after a famous movie was shot here. It used to be an important port town with more than 2,000 year of history. Tujia ethnic group is the original inhabitants and also the predominant population here with their typical residential houses. 2) #dehangmiaovillage - unique Miao ethnicity village nested between wonderful mountains and waterfall. In Dehang there are still 500 Miao people living and keeping their tradition alive. 3) #fenghuang County - the ancient Phoenix town. It was also my favourite among the three. Beautiful river, typical stilted buildings. The ethnic communities here are Tujia, Miao and 26 other minority groups. The town is surprisingly alive at night with traditional dance and music performances, bars, restaurants and tons of street food stalls. During the day you can go around and enjoy a few museums and old dynasty residences. The three old towns are half hour away by train from each other and they are absolutely worth the visit and the stay. People are also nice. Typical food tasty but very greasy 🥘 🍲

A 20-minute train ride from Zhangjiajie, there is the delightful ancient Furong town. This town, built more than 1000 years ago on a waterfall, is known for its night lights. The views that open up during a walk around Furong are also beautiful during the day. But if you like outdoor activities, ask the taxi driver to take you to Zuolongxia Scenic area and hike along the canyon bed. The route can take about 2 hours or less if you have good physical fitness. However, I recommend having more free time to take interesting photos of waterfalls and rocks. You will climb and walk on slippery stones. You should buy gloves at the beginning of the hike! And you must remember: after the "exit" sign, an endless staircase up is waiting for you😁 But it is really a great trip! You will proud of yourself! Ask the taxi driver to meet you at the end of the route. There are no buses there.
