Social Place - Quirky HK Dimsum Place
During my previous stay at St Regis, walked pass this dim sum place while walking along Orchard Road. Was attracted to the decor of the place. However already had lunch so didn’t have our lunch there. With our next Stayca at Regent Hotel, booked seats for lunch this time round. Better to reserve seats as they are very popular.
First thing that we noticed after sitting down was the plate. I had to make a double take to make sure I was not seeing things as there were ants in my bowl. Turned out to the bowl design. Interesting! The decor of the place was stunning, especially the mahjong wall. See to believe. Scanned QR code for the menu and to ordered. We ordered the signature roasted quail, wagyu char siew, truffle shiitake buns, cold foie gras in special fermented rice wine, crispy charcoal tofu, braised rice with abalone and black truffle and small pig pudding.
The roasted quail was the best dish hands down. Juicy and not too dry. The wagyu char siew was an interesting take on char siew but the sweet char siew taste masked the beef taste so the beef was kind of wasted in a way. The buns weee shaped like mushrooms and were delicious. The tofu was passable, saved by the delicious fried garlic. The braised rice was quite delicious too. Lastly the pig pudding was very cute. We also could not bear to eat it. Also ordered a glass of iced hk milk tea.
Total damage was around $120. Honestly, for the taste of the food, $120 was not that worth it but the decor, food presentation and service was worth the money spent. An interesting place to bring your date or friends to enjoy!
