When it rains, the little lamb takes shelter under the edge of the canopy. There are some free-range horses in the distance, occasionally running around freely, but mostly eating grass. From the living room and guest rooms, you can directly see the movement and tranquility of Napahai Grassland. 💞Recommended reason: Clean and hygienic. The service was excellent. The staff responded promptly. It was cold in the morning, so I quickly added a quilt. Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Sherpa town, provided a perfect acclimatization stop with its array of shops, cafes, and stunning views of Everest. Day 5: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar Acclimatization is crucial for preventing altitude sickness. I spent an extra day in Namche, hiking to the Everest View Hotel and visiting the Sherpa Museum. The panorama from the hotel, with Everest and other towering peaks in the distance, was simply awe-inspiring. Day 6-7: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche From Namche, the trek continued to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery. The trail offered continuous views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest. At Tengboche, I was lucky to witness a prayer ceremony at the monastery, a serene and spiritually uplifting experience. Day 8-9: Tengboche to Dingboche The journey from Tengboche to Dingboche was marked by a noticeable change in landscape, with the lush forests giving way to alpine meadows. Dingboche, situated at an altitude of 4,410 meters, served as another acclimatization stop. I took a short hike to Nagarjun Hill for panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Day 10-11: Dingboche to Lobuche The trek from Dingboche to Lobuche was increasingly challenging due to the thinning air and rugged terrain. The trail passed through the somber Thukla Pass, where memorials for climbers who lost their lives on Everest stand. Lobuche, a small settlement, provided a stark reminder of the harsh realities of high-altitude trekking. Day 12: Lobuche to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp This was the day I had been waiting for. We didn’t sleep well in the B&B near the ancient city area the night before check-in, so we contacted the hotel early to drive us to Jinse Zaiyeyuan. Not only was I able to check in early, I also got a room upgrade. I had planned to go to Songzanlin Monastery in the afternoon, but as soon as I entered the room, I decided not to go out. After having a light meal in the restaurant, I took a nap, and then spent an afternoon full of sunshine, warm breeze and cute animals with sheep, alpacas, sika deer and rabbits in the garden. It was so relaxing. On a nice day under the rainbow sun, overlooking the grasslands and mountains of Shangri-La, the hotel restaurant plays Norah Jones's I've Got To See You Again, the housekeeper lit the wood stove, and the wood fragrance made me feel like I was in a mountain chalet in Switzerland.
