Isola di Mozia: Sicily’s Timeless Island of Phoenician Secrets
#cityplaybook
#stunningview
Floating quietly in the Stagnone Lagoon near Marsala, Isola di Mozia is one of Sicily’s most extraordinary hidden treasures. Once a powerful Phoenician settlement over 2,500 years ago, this small island holds a rich story etched into its ancient ruins.
A short boat ride brings you to a landscape where time slows. Walk among crumbled city walls, sacred burial grounds, and the remarkable Kothon—a manmade harbor basin that speaks to early engineering genius. Inside the elegant Whitaker Museum, you’ll find pottery, jewelry, and the famous Motya Charioteer, a statue that rivals any classical masterpiece.
The island is also a peaceful haven surrounded by salt pans and windmills, with views that are just as breathtaking as its history. On especially calm days, you might even glimpse the ancient submerged road that once connected Mozia to the mainland.
Mozia is more than a day trip—it's a step into a lost world surrounded by beauty.
Location: Isola di Mozia (San Pantaleo), Stagnone Lagoon, Marsala, Sicily, Italy

Trapani harbour town 🇮🇹
The city of western Sicily_Trapani is known as the city between the two seas
It is an important fishing port🌟🌟
There is a market near the pier that sells fresh fish as well as tonno products: caviar, air-dried fish and more.
There is also the unique fishing port flavor and customs of Sicily 😍😍

Trapani: Salt, Sea & Sicilian Charm
On Sicily’s western coast, Trapani is a town shaped by the sea. Its old centre stretches along a narrow spit of land, with baroque churches, bustling piazzas, and views that glow at sunset.
Just outside the city lie the famous salt pans, a landscape of gleaming pools edged with windmills. Here, salt has been harvested for centuries, and you can watch the traditional methods still in use today. The reflections of sky and water create a dreamlike scene, especially in the golden evening light.
Back in town, Trapani rewards with fresh seafood — couscous al pesce is the local speciality — and a relaxed pace that makes lingering easy. It’s a place where history, tradition, and natural beauty all come together by the shore.
We went to Salina Calcara - Saline di Trapani e Paceco and had a fabulous time there, they did a guided tour and a trip to their museum, as well as letting us don some boots and get a feel of life as a salt worker (Top tip: It's really hot in August!!).
Address: Salina Calcara - Saline di Trapani e Paceco
Highlights: Guided tour, museum, salt worker experience, chance to take some salt home!

Marsala, Revisited: Digging Deeper into Sicily's Soul
#mytraveldiary
You’ve seen the basics. Now it’s time to live like a local. Returning to Marsala is about swapping landmarks for long lunches, historic streets for hidden beaches, and tasting the real flavour of Western Sicily.
Your Deeper Dive Itinerary:
Day 1: Salt, Sea & Slow Living
· Morning: Go beyond the town. Rent a bike and follow the Strada del Sale (Salt Road) south to the windmills and brilliant white salt pans of the Stagnone Lagoon.
· Afternoon: Find your perfect spot on the secluded San Teodoro beach for a swim in the shallow, warm waters. This is pure relaxation.
· Evening: Claim a table at a family-run trattoria you missed last time. Order the busiate with pesto Trapanese and a carafe of local Grillo wine.
Day 2: Islands, Archaeology & Aperitivo
· Morning: Take a short boat tour to Mozia, the ancient Phoenician island. It’s a peaceful, fascinating open-air museum with the famous Young Man of Mozia statue.
· Afternoon: Explore a lesser-known cantina for a more intimate wine tasting. Ask about their premium Marsala Vergine – a dry, complex wine for connoisseurs.
· Evening: Join the passeggiata along the main corso. Find a trendy bar for an Aperol spritz and some people-watching as the city comes to life in the evening cool.
Solo Traveller Tips for Your Return:
· Rent a Bike: The best way to explore the stunning, flat coastline at your own rhythm.
· Learn a Few Phrases: A simple "buongiorno" and "grazie" will open doors and warm hearts.
· Be Curious: Pop into that little enoteca you walked past last time. Talk to the shopkeeper. The best memories are often unplanned.
Welcome back to the sweet life. #SoloMarsala

Do you know Favignana, the hidden gem of Italy?!!
#EuropeanTravel
#Sicily #Fabignana
💙Fabignana is an island in Sicily. You can take a ferry from Trapani. Feel the Mediterranean Sea in Fabignana.
♥️You can rent a bicycle or a motorcycle to tour the island.
I rented a bicycle, and there are many rental shops, so it's easy to rent.
💛It's quite tiring to tour the island on a bicycle😉 I recommend an electric bicycle.
💕The atmosphere of the beaches in various places on the island is different, so enjoy swimming at various beaches.
💙Riding a bicycle along the coast, getting off at a beach you like, swimming, and riding a bicycle again... It was a really dreamlike time. If you go to Sicily, I really recommend Fabignana👍

#falltrip
been trekking high Himalaya since mid September. ABC, Manasul Circuit, Annapurna Circuit, 3 Passes and EBC. On way down now after 20 days on trail in the east. Boots are for the bin after several repairs and I am looking forward to some rest in warmer climes with more O2. Not sure where my next adventure will take me, but these past few months in Nepal have set a high bar in terms of challenges and massive rewards of breathtaking scenery.#Nepal#Himalaya#trekking#HighAltitude#Mountains#Everest

Wanna stay here again, Garangja Hotel
I heard about Bandipur just recently and wanna see the cool, stylish Newari city woth my own eyes. I and my boyfriend rode a bike from KTM to Gandaki, Thanahun District. It tooks 5 hours.
Garangja hotel is stands there quitely. It is a brand new hotel with reasonable price and you will enjoy the good view of Himalaya, even you have a bath. ☺️ We thought it will be expensive but we were surprise with 2000 Nepali rupee per night with such magnificent view. The staffs are really kind and warmth. The food are great. The room are clean. I love it and this will be for sure my hotel when I visit Bandipur next time.
Btw, the staff even took me to explore Bundipur in the morning walk. I met locals and it was so fantastic experience.
