Dongdatang
Tacheng Dongdatang Scenic Area is located in Dongwan Town, Shawan County, Tacheng Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is a national 3A-level tourist attraction.
Geographical Location and Transportation
Location: Dongdatang Scenic Area is located deep in the Tianshan Mountains, on the northern slope of Yilianhabirga Mountain, east of Shihezi.
Distance: About 75 kilometers from Shawan County and about 75 kilometers from Shihezi City.
Main Features
1. Natural Scenery: The scenic area has winding roads, steep mountains, deep valleys, numerous peaks, towering trees, gushing springs, green grass, and fragrant flowers with birds singing.
2. Summer Resort: In summer, the area is rich in water and grass, making it a summer pasture for strong horses and fat sheep, and also a summer resort. Every three days, there is a light rain that washes the mountains green, with wildflowers spreading fragrance.
3. Cultural Features: The main features here include the simple Kazakh herdsmen, ancient nomadic life, rich grassland culture, and the long-standing Western Region culture. Additionally, Dongdatang has historically been known for its developed Buddhist culture. In recent years, the scenic area has leveraged this advantage to actively promote Buddhist cultural tourism.
Main Attractions
Southern Area: The famous Hundred Mile Glacier, commonly known as the "Snow Flood Dam." The high mountains stretch endlessly, with snow-capped peaks shining coldly. There is a river in the mountains, with clear streams gurgling.
Eastern Area: Surrounded by mountains on three sides, the southeast sides are covered with dense spruce forests. A rugged path through the dense pine forest on the south side leads to the top of the mountain, where there is green grass interspersed with scattered clouds of pine. A hundred-meter waterfall cascades down from the cliff, plunging into a deep pool at the bottom of the valley.
