This was my first time solo-travel to Taitung. It is a beautiful place that I will visit again and again. I made a lot of good friends at the hostel and during the swim in the ocean. I love the view on the way here by train, and I love that how the eastern Taiwan still preserves nature really well. You get to taste the rawness and beauty of nature but also the warmness from the people there. 📍East Coast Fugang Geopark (Xiaoyeliu) It’s a very good place if you are interested in geology and want to learn more about the geography in Taiwan. There are also many beautiful rocks. It is a place that brings you peace and tranquility. 📍Dulan Sugar Factory Café and Art Gallery You can see the sugar factory and learn about the history of the old age. There is also a lot of indigenous art work displayed there. 🌊Most of the time here I spent time with my friends in the ocean swimming and surfing. All along, I thought this place was called Xiaoyeliu. It turns out that it has a real name, "Fugang Geopark". It just has the nickname "Xiaoyeliu" because its terrain is similar to the famous Yehliu Geopark in the north. The Xiaoyeliou Coast is composed of alternating deposits of thick sandstone and thin mudstone. After crustal movement, long-term erosion and weathering by sea water, a diverse and unique geological landscape has been formed. The rocks here have different shapes, showing the wonders of nature. The park is well planned and the trails are equipped with barrier-free ramps, so there is no need to worry about pushing a baby stroller. There is also a visitor center here, but it is easy to overlook this place. After entering Xiaoyeliou, the first thing you will see is a building with a sloping roof. There is a geological exhibition hall inside, which introduces the unique geological landscape of Xiaoyeliu and the formation and evolution of the coastal mountains. The visitor center provides diverse and friendly facilities, including a breastfeeding room, a Muslim prayer room, and accessible toilets. The child accidentally fell that day, so we took him to the visitor center, which also provides basic medical treatment.
