The hotel is in an excellent position overlooking the sea with parking reasonably available. Our room was fairly basic but we did have a sea view and it had everything we needed. Breakfast was very good with fruit, cheeses, cereals, cakes, honey etc. There is a small terrace overlooking the sea but there is no bar service so you have to carry your drinks up to it. We saw afterwards that a glass of wine or Aperol was included in our tariff but we were not offered it and hadn`t realised. The day we left the UK the Daily Telegraph featured the hotel but we certainly paid more than the price quoted in the newspaper. #siracusa is a town on the island of #sicily and it is located on the east coast. It is really far away from Palermo - 350km and much closer to Catania airport. If you go there you will probably need to rent a car. There are many narrow streets and cathedrals around. The architecture is in the expected style for #italy #happynewyear

The joint ticket of the Parco Archaeologicodella Neapolis includes the tomb of Archimedes, the Roman Amphitheatre, the ear of Dionysius and the Greek Theatre, which is well worth a visit. The day I went, what a holiday, actually free of votes, saved 10 euros. Roman amphitheatre, the weather is serious and the scale is not very large. The arches, steps and stage that entered the theater have been well preserved. There are many tombs in the periphery of the theater, and it is impossible to know which one is the tomb of Archimedes. Going along the main road, the lush green trees along the way, a two-story lodge in the distance, especially conspicuous, and the flowers on the side are bright. The ancient Greek amphitheatre is facing the sea, standing on a high place, and can see the sea far away. Regrettably, the theater has been painted with cement, and the renovation has been as flat as the new one. It does not see the traces of history. It is really sad. Built in the 5th century BC, Sicily's largest Greek theater, 130 meters in diameter, semi-circular, 67 rows of seats divided into 9 parts, can see the stage from any angle. The Ear of Dionysius (Orecchio di Dionisio) is a large ear-shaped cave located at the end of the Latomia del Paradiso (Heaven's Quarry). The cave is 23 meters high, and its immense size is evident when you see photos of it with people for scale. The cave was named by the painter Caravaggio. Dionysius was the name of the tyrant who once ruled Syracuse. Voices inside the cave echo all the way to the outside, which is quite surprising. Even a small voice carries well. According to legend, the tyrant Dionysius used to imprison enemy captives in this cave to eavesdrop on their plots and secret conversations.
