East Garden is located on Baita East Road in the northeast of the ancient city. The garden is long and narrow from north to south in a strip shape. It extends to Loumen in the north, and is adjacent to Cou Garden across the river in the south. It is adjacent to Waicheng River in the east and Cang Street in the west. It covers an area of 270 mu, of which 90 mu is water surface and the building area is 1,400 square meters. East Garden was originally named Chengdong Park. It is the first new comprehensive park built after the liberation of Suzhou. The large lawn in East Garden is emerald green, surrounded by cedars like forests. On the east side, Hanbi Tower, Chunhe Qiushuang Pavilion and other buildings are beside the water, simple and elegant; the surrounding corridors, rockery, pools and flowers and trees form a quiet courtyard; on the west side, the towering pink walls and black tiles are the "Mingxuan" sample of my country's classical gardens exported to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA, which has become a bond of friendship between the Chinese and American people.
