Dongqian Lake is in Yinzhou district of Ningbo. it’s fairly easy to get to, buses run from the main city area down to the lake throughout the day, Didi can be taken from various points of Ningbo, or Subway line 4 reaches Dongqian Lake but not in the central part of the lake. A Didi from Jiangbei Wanda takes around 1 hour and costs about 90RMB (traffic dependant). Once at the lake, take a walk down the scenic path towards the waterfall, this path currently has a lot of construction happening around it, which does ruin some photos. There is also a temple to visit down in the scenic area. After this, head into the main village of Dongqian Lake to see the old Ningbo life and visit 1 of the 2 coffee shops just on the lake front. However, there are also hidden gems along the lake area like small villages that remain untouched by many modern changes. The lake is located a short drive away from Ningbo ; around 45 mins away. The lake itself is very large and as such, it's really serene and feels very spacious. Along the lake, one can do many outdoor activities such as biking. It's a very scenic area and on foggy days, it's extremely serene, yet eerie, giving the area a very mysterious atmosphere. The lake area also includes several other hidden attractions, which is why a car will allow you to fully experience the area. For instance you'll pass by lovely tea growing farms. The true highlight is a small village that seems to be a walk back in time. The old streets and buildings make you feel like you're back in a simpler time. They make for great pictures, especially against a misty and foggy backdrop. Overall, Dongqian lake is a very lovely scenic area with more than just a lake.
