The train is powered by a traditional coal-fired engine, adding to its historic appeal. The rhythmic chugging of the engine accompanies you as you glide along the peaceful shores of Llanberis Lake, providing spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes one way, with a 15-minute break before the train returns to the station. In total, the round trip lasts about an hour, making it a perfect activity for families, couples, or solo travelers looking to enjoy the beauty of North Wales.
Tickets for adults are priced at £10.50, a fair price for such a picturesque and relaxing experience. The train departs at regular intervals throughout the day—at 11:10 AM, 12:25 PM, 1:40 PM, and 2:55 PM—with the station opening at 10:30 AM. It’s worth noting that the railway may be closed on Fridays and Saturdays, so it’s a good idea to check the schedule in advance.
