Dogo Onsen Travelogue: Into the Hot Springs of Sen and Chihiro ♨️
One of the places I really wanted to visit while traveling in Japan was Dogo Onsen! ✨ It is also famous as the inspiration for the hot spring in the anime Spirited Away. On this trip, I will visit the hot spring in person, enjoy the hot spring, and share what I felt while looking around the area.
Dogo Onsen Main Building and Annex
When I visited, the main building of Dogo Onsen was not yet fully open, which was a shame, but fortunately, I was able to enjoy the hot spring at the Dogo Onsen Annex! The annex also boasts a traditional architecture just as wonderful as the main building, and the interior facilities were also great. After enjoying the hot spring, the time spent relaxing in a calm atmosphere was truly healing. They served Japanese sweets and green tea together, and the taste was really great!
The staff was also very kind, which made the experience even more satisfying.
Famous places near Dogo Onsen
There are many things to see around Dogo Onsen! Among them, the Dogo Clock Tower and Starbucks Dogo Branch were particularly impressive. In particular, the Dogo Clock Tower shows performances at regular intervals, capturing the attention of tourists!
Also, there are many cute souvenir shops and snack shops in the shopping area near Dogo Onsen. In particular, since the Matsuyama area is famous for citrus fruits, there were many citrus-based desserts! I recommend trying one.
🌳 Healing time at Dogo Park
On the way to Dogo Onsen, there is Dogo Park. At first, I thought I would just pass by, but when I actually went there, it was so beautiful!
There were green trees neatly arranged throughout the park, and the walking path was well-maintained. Surprisingly, I was even able to see a heron! If you climb up the walking path in the park to the top, you will be able to see a spectacular view of the entire city of Matsuyama. You should definitely go there!
Isaniwa Shrine
There is also Isaniwa Shrine near Dogo Onsen. You can get there by walking a little past Dogo Starbucks.
⚠️ Be careful! There are quite a few stairs to get to the shrine!
However, a beautiful view awaits you when you climb up, so it is worth the challenge. The shrine itself is very beautiful, and the serene atmosphere is charming. In particular, the view from the shrine is so beautiful.
🚶♀️ Getting to Dogo Onsen
People who travel to Matsuyama usually stay in the Okaido area and travel there. You can take a bus to Dogo Onsen, but I recommend walking!
The road there is so beautiful, and you can feel the typical atmosphere of a small Japanese town. 🏡 If you walk along the quiet alleys, you can fully enjoy the romance of your trip in a leisurely atmosphere!
I highly recommend Dogo Onsen!
Dogo Onsen is more than just a hot spring, it is a place where traditional Japanese style and modern convenience are harmoniously combined. Not only can you enjoy the hot spring and heal, but you can also visit various nearby attractions to make your trip even more fulfilling! ✨
If you are planning a trip to a Japanese hot spring, I highly recommend Dogo Onsen!!
