Stunning Views of The Death Railway in Kanchanaburi 🇹🇭
#thailandtrip
📍Thamkra Sae Bridge, Kanchanaburi
Such a beautiful place full of history dated back to during World War II, where this death railway was built. The view of the railways and the river was stunning and we were shocked by how they managed to build the railway in such a short period of time during World War II. Very impressive work. Visitors can walk on the railway to get to the other side and the train will make sure that there is no visitors on the railway when it is approaching. The walk on the railway can be quite dangerous, so visitors have to be more careful while doing so! Stunning views and visitors are able to capture a lot of instagrammable photos! There is also a cave on the other side with a Buddha statue in it. Be sure to ride on the train to catch the beautiful scenery in Kanchanaburi, definitely worth the visit!

The Death Railway Bridge
The Death Railway Bridge, also known as the "Bridge on the River Kwai" after the popular film of the same name, is Kanchanaburi's most well-known historical site. During WWII, it was built with the help of British, Dutch, and American prisoners of war.
The bridge was part of the Thai-Burmese "Death Railway," so named because so many men perished while it was being built. The railway would have helped supply supplies to Japanese troops battling the British in adjacent Burma, therefore development was overseen by Japanese forces.
Today, you can stroll or take a train across this bridge, which still has portions of the original framework. Surrounding the location are market stalls selling food and goods.

"Thai" Fun | Kanchanaburi Railway Travel, Relaxing and Historic!
| Kanchanaburi Railway Travel, Relaxing and Historic! 🌟The "Death Railway" in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, has experienced the bloody storm of World War II and is still in operation. The train passes through fields, mountains, and slowly moves along the Kwai River, finally passing the famous landmark of Kanchanaburi, the "Bridge on the River Kwai", and reaching the end.
🚞We took the last train of the day, and it was almost evening when we got off the train. The setting sun has put a gentle coat on the small platform, and the train slowly leaves. The heaviness of the Oscar blockbuster "The Bridge on the River Kwai" is not felt at all. Time has faded many things, including history, memories, and bloody storms.
🌤️After getting off the train, stroll along the Bridge on the River Kwai and see people swimming and boating in the turbulent Kwai River during the rainy season. Everyone shouted across the air, greeted, with the dust and the yearning for a place... Railway travel really has a sense of film, accompanied by the rumbling sound, every back, every frame of scenery, every traveler's luggage seems to have a story.
📌Thamkra Sae Station is the most thrilling section of the Death Railway. The wooden bridge is suspended in the air, with the Kwai River on one side and the cliff on the other. The train will slow down here, pay attention to sitting on the left, convenient for taking pictures and watching the scenery. After the last train arrives at the station, there will be no trains that day, and it is safe and allowed to walk on the rails.

Where to go around Bangkok? Experience the most terrifying Death Railway!
The Death Railway, like a wound forgotten in the depths of time, silently left a mark of history on the banks of the Kwai River.
During World War II, Japan built a railway to connect Bangkok, Thailand and Yangon, Myanmar. The railway, which was originally expected to be completed in 6 years, was completed in only 17 months by forcing Allied prisoners of war to take high risks of death.
The 415-kilometer steel dragon crosses mountains and cliffs, winding in the dense tropical rainforest. The cruel past is hidden under every inch of track and sleeper of this railway. Near Tham Kra Sae Station, this famous railway along the way, on both sides is a cliff, and on the other side is the rushing water of the Kwai River.
Take a slow train and slowly move along the "Death Railway". The rhythm of the train is soothing, the old seats in the carriage are slightly shaking, accompanied by a rhythm that is not slow, and crosses the smoke of history. The car window is open, and the outside air is filled with a moist tropical atmosphere. The wind that comes on the face sweeps over the skin, mixed with the fragrance of rice fields and jungles, as if awakening a distant and long-lost memory.
❤️ Kanchanaburi Death Railway and Slow Train Travel Tips
The slow train on the "Death Railway" usually has three trains running between Bangkok and Kanchanaburi. The specific time is as follows:
Morning shift:
Departure time: 07:50 Depart from Hua Lamphong Station in Bangkok.
Arrival time: about 10:25 Arrive in Kanchanaburi.
Noon shift:
Departure time: 13:55 Depart from Bangkok.
Arrival time: about 16:19 Arrive in Kanchanaburi.
Afternoon shift (last shift):
Departure time: 15:15 Depart from Kanchanaburi to the southern terminal Nam Tok Station.
Arrival time: about 18:30 Arrive.
Different time periods bring different experiences. The last train can enjoy the beautiful scenery in the soft light in the evening. If you choose this train, you can experience the Kwai River Bridge and the scenery along the way under the sunset.
📸Photo suggestion:
Best shooting point: Tham Kra Sae Bridge on the Thai-Myanmar border, which is the most dangerous railway section, with steep mountains on one side and cliffs on the other, overlooking the beautiful scenery of the Kwai River. The slow train slows down here, prepare the camera to capture this rare moment.
Kwai River Bridge: It is recommended to go in the early morning or dusk, the light is soft and the color is rich, and you can take more layered photos.

The iconic bridge over the Kway River is a must-see when visiting Kanchanaburi, which was built with the lives of prisoners of war during the Second World War 😱🛤️🚂
The name of the bridge is the River Kwai Bridge or Death Railway Bridge. 🛤️🚂
The big bridge built along the Kway River, which is said to be the lifeblood of the city, is very beautiful and alive with the scenic mountains and rivers. 🚂🛤️
According to the locals, this big bridge can reach all over the city, and there is a museum about the history below the starting point of the bridge. 🛤️🚂
The River Kwai Bridge stands as a powerful symbol of human resilience amidst the hardships of World War II. 🚂🛤️
Built under Japanese supervision by Allied POWs and Asian laborers, it tells a stunning story of sacrifice across the river.

Railway to Remembrance: A Poignant Journey Through History
#thailandtrip
My train ride from River Kwai Bridge Station to Thamkrasae Station was a thought-provoking experience. As I chugged along the infamous Death Railway, I felt a mix of emotions - sadness, reverence, and gratitude. The scenic Thai countryside contrasted starkly with the somber history of the railway, built during WWII at the cost of countless lives. I couldn't help but reflect on the sacrifices made by prisoners of war and civilians who toiled to build this very track. The ride was a poignant reminder of the devastating consequences of war and the importance of remembering the past.

Exploring the Death Railway Kanchanaburi
The Death Railway is originally called the Thailand-Burma Railway. The nickname “Death Railway” because over hundred thousand labourers died during its 16 construction between 1942 and 1943.
I spent 2days 1 night in Kanchanaburi . I love the vibes here. Not so crowded like in Bangkok. At night i went to their night market n the next day i took the early train to Saphan Tamkra Sae Cave. If im not mistaken it cost around 100 Baht. Spent there for few hrs then i went back to Bangkok using the railway. It was a great experience with a beautiful view.

Death Railway in Kachanburi! 🛤️😲
Death Railway is considered as one of the most visited destinations in Kanchanaburi for both local and foreign travellers. I have seen pictures of this place on facebook and instagram and I wanted so badly to see this place in person and I finally did! Went to see this historical site in Kanchanaburi called Death Railway. As far as I recall, the journey takes about 2 hours one way then another two going back from Nam Namtok. The tickets are available at the station 15 minutes before it arrives, however for our tickets we just paid on board a train. Such a memorable experience I had!

A Visit to the Death Bridge Railway
So here’s a little story,
Kanchanaburi is a sleepy, small town about 2 hours west of Bangkok. You can easily get there by bus or take the slow moving train for the more scenic route. Whatever you prefer.
This is called the Death Railway and one of the must-see spots in this town. The history of it is as horrific as it sounds.
Long story short, this railway was built by prisoners of war and slave laborers during WWII. It’s an ugly stain on history but still important to experience and learn about it by physically going there.
Of course tourists (like myself) can be seen taking pictures and admiring the views of the temple that’s next to it. However, I think it’s important to read up on the history to understand the significance of it.
Travel tip: Go here early and preferably during the off season. It gets really crowded, making it difficult to walk because of weaving in and out of the people, plus balancing on the train tracks 😅…
Getting There - walk or take a Grab
Attractions - A temple is located next to along with the city center
Hotels - Felix Resort being one of the top-rated places to stay
Food & Restaurants - Street food and restaurants on the river
Shopping - Souvenirs shops located nearby

The Death Railway contained a heavy history during World War II, when Japan forced the prisoners of war to build a railway connecting Bangkok, Thailand and Yangon, Myanmar. Tens of thousands of prisoners of war and workers lost their lives during the construction process, hence the name Death Railway. The current "Death Railway" has no such a sultry name as the name, but has become a famous sightseeing spot in Kanchanaburi. The "Death Railway" can mainly visit two sections, one is the River Kwai Bridge and the other is THAMKRA SAE.
New_York_Gossip.
This section is the essence of the Death Railway. The railway is built on the mountain. On one side is the steep cliff and on the other is the abyss. It is the most beautiful and most exciting part of the Death Railway.
The train station is simple, the stop sign reads the time when the train arrives at the station, so before we can go to the railway.
I came here for the first time, giving me the first impression here. It is like a scene in a Thai movie. It is very small and fresh, and I don't understand why it is called the Death Railway. Although it is very thrilling to walk on it, the scenery on both sides of the strait is simply beautiful. Take the train through the green woods, accompanied by lakes and mountains, as if traveling through the Wizard of Oz.
On the tail of the suspended railway section is the cave temple krasae cave. Some Thai locals will come to the temple to worship. Only the railway can reach this temple.
