The exterior of the museum has a modern and contemporary feel. Inside, the exhibits about the history of Dalian explain how the city developed into a port city and gateway to Manchuria from the late 19th century, with the construction of the South Manchurian Railway by Russia and Japan, who occupied the Liaodong Peninsula at that time.

If you are traveling to Dalian for a week, this is a place I recommend. It has similar contents to other museums representing each province or city in China, but it is small in size, so it takes about 30-60 minutes to look around. It is especially recommended for those who are visiting with children or do not like tourist attractions with high entrance fees. My memories of Taiyuan are still fresh in my mind, and now I'm at Dalian Museum to relive the history of Jinyang City and Lou Rui's Tomb! 📅Exhibition Dates: Nov. 15, 2024 - Feb. 15, 2025 📍Exhibition Hall: Hall C, 4th Floor, Dalian Museum I just returned from Taiyuan and discovered this amazing exhibition, which features exquisite artifacts from the Northern Dynasties, Sui, and Tang dynasties collected by Taiyuan Museum. This exhibition is fantastic, telling the history of the city through artifacts, following the threads of "The Capital of the Northern Dynasties" and "The Capital of the Northern Dynasties," and presenting the artifacts from major archaeological discoveries such as Lou Rui's Tomb one by one. The exhibition is divided into three sections: "The Majestic Town," "The Astonishing Ancient Tomb," and "The Splendid Capital." Be sure to take a close look at the key artifact, the "Chihandle Chicken Head Celadon Pot"! It is a first-class artifact. The pot is 48 cm high, with a belly diameter of 23 cm, and was unearthed from the Northern Qi Lou Rui's Tomb. The pot has a disc-shaped mouth, a round lip slightly open, a slender neck, a flat shoulder, a bulging belly, and a small flat bottom. The front of the shoulder has a solid chicken head, the back has two parallel chihandles, the chihandle holds the pot mouth, and the top has a mane. The sides of the shoulder have flat square holes with decorations, and the neck has three circumferential string patterns and three buttons, with a lotus and honeysuckle in the middle.
