Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch (대관령 양떼목장) – Gangwon-do
#koreatrip
This scenic ranch is Korea’s only sheep farm open to visitors. Located in the highlands of Daegwallyeong, it features rolling green pastures and breathtaking mountain views. Visitors can feed sheep, enjoy a leisurely walk along the ranch trails, or simply take in the fresh air. It’s especially picturesque in winter when the fields are blanketed in snow.

Trip with family to Pyeongchang, Korea 🇰🇷
It was a winter trip with family to Pyeongchang, Korea . We began our trip to Pyeongchang with a visit to Woljeongsa Temple. Walking along the famous Fir Tree Forest Trail, covered in a soft blanket of snow ⛄️ felt like stepping into a winter fairy tale. We arrived in the afternoon, around 3:00 PM, to catch the golden light filtering through the 🌲 . It was perfect for taking peaceful, Instagram-worthy photos 📸 of the snowy path and the ancient temple. The serenity of the temple during winter is unmatched, and we highly recommend it for anyone visiting Pyeongchang.

We started our day at Alpensia Ski Resort, which is ideal for winter sports like skiing 🎿 and snowboarding 🏂 Even if you don’t ski, the resort offers fantastic views of snow-covered slopes, making it a great spot for photography 📸 We recommend visiting early in the morning, around 8:00 AM to capture the fresh snow and enjoy the quieter slopes.

In the afternoon, we headed to the Daegwallyeong Sheep 🐑 Farm, which is stunning in winter. The rolling white hills dotted with sheep create a unique and picturesque winter scene. We recommend arriving around 2:00 PM for softer lighting and to enjoy feeding the sheep while taking plenty of adorable photos 📸 The farm is a peaceful escape and perfect for family-friendly fun.

Besides, we also visited Yongpyong Ski Resort, one of Korea’s largest and most scenic ski resorts and it definitely is my favourite place 🙌 The panoramic views of snow-covered mountains from the Dragon Peak Observatory (accessible by gondola) were absolutely breathtaking. The best time to visit is early morning 900 AM to avoid crowds. Do include this place if you are a big fan of ski ⛷️ 🙌

This itinerary was one of our favorite winter adventures, and we’d recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, snow-filled getaway!

Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm - Swiss vibe
#traveldiaries
The Daegwallyeong Sheep Farm, the only sheep farm in South Korea, is located in the mountains of Gangneung at an elevation of over 700 meters. The cool weather and green hills create a Swiss-like atmosphere, making it a famous travel destination and often considered a must-visit spot when traveling to Gangneung. The farm is beautiful in every season, even in winter with snowfall, but I recommend visiting in spring or fall. It's best to avoid July due to the rainy season. Because of its mountainous location, it's not convenient to reach by public transportation, so traveling by car is the preferred option.

Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch
📍Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch
In Pyeongchang's Daegwallyeong, there are several sheep ranches, and among them is the Daegwallyeong Sheep Ranch :)
🐑 Known as the Alps of Korea, the sheep ranch boasts a vast expanse where you can enjoy the blue sky and green meadows to your heart's content ◡̈
🐑 It's larger than you might think, so it takes quite a bit of time to walk around. When you reach the highest point, the cool breeze feels incredibly refreshing!
🐑 You can see the sheep grazing on the meadows up close, and there's also a feeding experience area where you can feed them hay directly!
