It is open daily from 0900-1900. An 18th century baroque building topped by the nearly 250 foot Clerigos tower with 49 resonate bells inside, offers unrivalled views of the Douro River and Porto's old town. They also house a museum, with artifacts related to the clerics. The architectural complex of Clerics, considered a National Monument since 1910, is one of the main points of interest for its tower, museum and church. A must see attraction for all those who visit Porto.

The entire city felt like a huge painting, and the old buildings, tiles, calm river, and even the people passing by were all like the main characters in the scenery. The first day started with arriving at São Bento Station. It was the first time I realized that a train station could be this pretty. The blue azulejo tiles that filled the interior walls caught my eye. The nearby Lello Bookstore was literally a dream bookstore. The atmosphere created by the red wooden stairs and stained glass ceiling made me feel like I was in a fantasy movie. The Clérigos Tower is difficult to climb, but it is a must-see. The view of Porto from there was a scene I would never forget. In the afternoon, I walked around the Ribeira district along the Douro River, and in the evening, I crossed the bridge and enjoyed a wine tour in Vila Nova de Gaia. The port wine I tasted at the 'Carbao' winery had a deep and smooth taste. On the last day, I enjoyed my free time at a local cafe, drinking egg tarts and galao coffee, and bought souvenirs at Bolhao Market. Overall, the prices are reasonable, and there are many tourists, but the calm city atmosphere is the biggest charm of Porto. Whether alone or with someone, Porto was the perfect city to feel the aesthetics of 'slowly'. #EuropeanTravel Porto felt like walking through a postcard every step of the way. I arrived by train from Lisbon, but Porto definitely had a different vibe. It was small and quiet, but artistic and warm. I still can't forget the sunset I saw while walking along the Douro River in the Ribeira area. The entire city turned golden when the sun set between the red roofs. The first day was a walking tour centered around São Bento Station, Lello Bookstore, and Clérigos Tower. Lello Bookstore has an admission fee, but the interior was truly fantastic. The second day, I crossed the Dom Luís I Bridge and went to the Gaia district, where there is a port wine cellar. I had a tasting at the 'Carvao' winery and also saw the wine museum. The accommodation was near the 'Music House', which was quiet and easy to get around. The food was generally cheap and delicious. Pastel de nata sold at the mart was great, and the seafood risotto at the restaurant 'Luis' was something I would definitely want to eat again. The people of Porto were also very kind, and whenever I asked for directions, they approached me first and helped me. Through this trip, I felt the joy of walking and the charm of a small city again. It was a regrettable trip that felt short, even though it was only 3 nights and 4 days. Upon arrival, I headed straight to the Serra do Pilar Monastery viewpoint to take in the cityscape, which featured stunning red rooftops and the Douro River. I stayed at an Airbnb near 'Ribeira,' which was conveniently close to night view spots, making evening strolls delightful. On the first day, I strolled along Ribeira Street and the Douro Riverbank, and took a €6 cruise tour. On the second day, I visited Livraria Lello (the Harry Potter bookstore), São Bento Station, and Clérigos Tower, and spent the afternoon at 'Café Majestic,' enjoying traditional Pastel de Nata with a cup of coffee. On the third day, I joined a wine tour at 'Sandeman,' which included a guided tasting of Port wine—highly recommended. On the last day, I shopped for souvenirs and bought affordable local food at the supermarket 'Pingo Doce.' Overall, the cost of living in Porto is relatively low compared to other European cities, and walking is preferable to public transportation due to its small-town feel. However, the city has many hills, so comfortable sneakers are a must. The weather in April was clear and pleasantly cool, perfect for traveling.

#springitinerary When I was in Portugal Porto I visited the church of the clerics. The church itself is free entry so you can just go in to take a look and observe. However if you want to go up the tower then you will need to pay an entrance fee for that. Overall it’s quite pretty and beautiful and I think it’s worth visiting. There are also lots of tourists over here. Do check out if you haven’t been here before. It’s quite a nice place and a must visit in Portugal!

#europetrip I visited the church of the clerics when I was in Portugal Porto and bought the tickets up to the top to see this stunning view. I was really amazed as you can see the bird eye view of the area and the view was just perfect and pretty. Took really many nice pictures over here and it wasn’t too cold high up too. Really recommended activity and it’s worth the ticket! Would definitely do this again. The houses look so pretty from on top and I could really spend a few hours here taking nice shots of the place.

#February travel support event Visited in the fall of 23. The highest place to look down on Porto? View the city from above. Tickets are purchased on site. As I was walking slowly, I was asked if I wanted to take pictures outside the tower. So I thought I had to, but it was optional. I had to pay a separate fee, so I passed. It's not really a good idea to go to a scary place (go up the tower, put your legs out, sit down, and take pictures). It's good to take a quick look around the city.

#traveldiaries I was at Porto traveling and went to the church of the clerics and an entrance fee is required. In the museum there was a small section dedicated to Picasso and it was indeed a very interesting read. Learnt a bit about his history and works and it was quite a nice read and spent quite awhile here in the afternoon. Suggest to come if you’re interested! Entrance fee is also not too expensive and quite reasonably priced.

St John’s Festival, June 24th, is the grandest festival in Porto. On the evening of the 23rd, which is St John’s Festival Eve, it is just like Christmas and Christmas Eve. Before checking in, I was notified by email: try to check in before 4 PM, otherwise, after that time, the city will have traffic control. Reluctantly bidding farewell to the manor shrouded in light mist and rain, I hurried to Porto. While secretly delighted to have once again stumbled upon a grand festival, I couldn't help but worry about restaurants closing and not finding good food, just like on the Feast of Corpus Christi in Coimbra. As soon as I stepped out of São Bento train station, the festive atmosphere was palpable. Street vendors lined the streets, selling mostly various snacks, drinks, and plastic hammers. The former replenishes energy, while the latter embodies the spirit of revelry. As a 'self-defense weapon,' getting one for 3 euros was quite necessary. The festive atmosphere ignited the whole city, with explosive music coming from different directions on the streets and from upstairs. Walking on the road, if you are not careful, you might get hit on the head by a plastic hammer swung from who knows where, making the world spin. At night, Ribeira Quay was crowded with people, either sitting on the ground or dancing to the upbeat music. Some hid in a corner, using 'long-stemmed purple flowers' and fishing techniques to gently brush the purple flowers over passersby. This 'flirting' method is quite creative. At midnight, fireworks burst into the sky on time.
