Family city break in Valencia 🗺️
#familytime
We recently took a family city break in Valencia, and it was such a great experience! The blend of history and modern attractions kept all of us entertained. Our first stop was the City of Arts and Sciences, which is a must-visit. For around €8-€10 per person, the kids were amazed by the futuristic architecture and interactive exhibits at the Science Museum.
We also spent a day at the Oceanogràfic (€31 for adults, €23 for kids), the largest aquarium in Europe. The underwater tunnels and dolphin show were definitely the highlights! After that, we wandered around the old town, taking in the beauty of the cathedral and the charming streets of El Carmen.
Valencia is also perfect for family bike rides. We rented bikes and explored Turia Gardens, a massive green space in the heart of the city, and ended up at the beach for a relaxing afternoon. The Mediterranean breeze and warm sun were exactly what we needed to unwind!

Back to the future in Valencia 🇪🇸
The City of Art and Sciences was designed by Felix Candela and world famous Spanish architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava who was born in Benimamet, Valencia and inaugurated in 1998. Its cost was 1200 millions of Euros.
It is the second time I came here and I am still fascinated by the neofuturistic design. The white constructions are a beautiful contrast to the blue sky. When you are tired of the museum relax in one of the restaurants or have a walk in neighboring park.

City of Arts and Sciences
My visit to the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia was a journey into a world of architectural wonder, scientific exploration, and cultural enrichment. This futuristic complex is a true gem of modern Spain.
Exploring the various components of the City of Arts and Sciences was an adventure in itself. The Oceanografic, Europe's largest aquarium, was a fascinating journey into marine life. The interactive exhibits at the Science Museum made learning fun. The Hemisfèric's cinema experiences were nice. The Umbracle, with its lush gardens and walkways, provided a sense of tranquility.

The City of Arts and Sciences is an ensemble of six areas in the dry river bed of the now diverted River Turia in Valencia, Spain. Designed by Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and started in July 1996, it is an impressive example of modern architecture. The "city" is made up of the following, usually known by their Valencian names: El Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía — Opera house and performing arts centre; L'Hemisfèric — Imax Cinema, Planetarium and Laserium; L'Umbracle — Walkway / Garden; El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe — Science museum; Oceanografic — Open-air aquarium or oceanographic park; Ágora — A versatile space that will allow the holding of varied events.
Surrounded by attractive streams and pools of water, it and the surrounding areas of the "city" are typically used as a relaxing place to walk day or night, with an open air bar outside El Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe during the evening.

This is not LA, it's VALENCIA 🇪🇸
This is not a drill - those gorgeous tall palm trees are not from Los Angeles, but from Valencia! And in addition to the beautiful coast-side, there is art and culture, history and freshly made churros with hot chocolate... 🤤

One afternoon in Valencia’s futuristic city
If you visit 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 this is certainly one of the places you should not miss‼️
𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 has many highlight when it comes to architecture, and if 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗮 got 𝘈𝘯𝘵𝘰𝘯𝘪 𝘎𝘢𝘶𝘥í, 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 has 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘨𝘰 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘢.
The architect, born in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 in 1951, is the creative mind behind one of the most photographed buildings here, the 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀.
🗓This project opened in 1998, but construction still continued up until 2005 when the last of its buildings was complete.
The several constructions in this area have different purposes:
- 𝙃𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙘: this eye-shaped building is used as a IMAX Cinema 🍿
- 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙚𝙪𝙢: the longest of the building in this complex is a museum devoted to communicate and teach about sciences 🧬
- 𝙐𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙡𝙚: this is a garden paralel to the museum where one can find many species of local trees and plants 🌴
- 𝙊𝙘𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙞𝙘: this is the largest aquarium in Europe 🦈
- 𝙌𝙪𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙤𝙛𝙞𝙖 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙋𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚: It hosts the Opera Theatre of Valencia and is devoted to arts and music 🎭
- 𝘼𝙜𝙤𝙧𝙖: this is the latest project to get a purpose, when it was open this same year, 2022, as a 𝘊𝘢𝘪𝘹𝘢𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘮, a project of the Spanish financial entity "𝘓𝘢 𝘊𝘢𝘪𝘹𝘢" that hosts different exhibitions and that we got to visit inside 🖼
👉Definitely you would need one whole day to visit the entire complex, but many people come here to enjoy the views from the outside, to chill sitting by the water lakes 💦 and dipping the feet inside the water, or even there is the possibility to rent a transparent bottom kayak 🛶 or paddel surf board to move around the man-made lake in front of the buildings.
Certainly a place for kids and adults to enjoy a good time while in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 and admire the magnificent architecture and creativity of the buildings around. Take your time time to stroll around and enjoy the view peacefully and slowly.
𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗶𝗽: get into the Agora building - recently open in 2022 as a 𝘊𝘢𝘪𝘹𝘢𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘮, entrance is free of charge 🎟- you would only need to pay if you wish to visit any of the exhibition they have - and you will get to enjoy a fantastic view of the building from inside. Its design reminds us of a 🐳 whale skeleton (𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘐 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘴 😂) and they have a public staircase with comfortable seating and even charging loads to plug in your phone when you run out of battery because you take too many pics and vids
This was our visit to the 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮, hope you like it and let us know if you have been there and have some tips to make the visit even more enjoyable

The City of Arts and Science Monuments
This popular place in Valencia is the most beautiful combination of art and science I have ever seen.
Opera House; Palau de les Arts. This is the venue to see musical performances such as concerts, operas, ballets and zarzuela.
Hemisferic: a digital 3D cinema screened daily of the educational documentary.
Science Musuem: the shape of the building is like a shark skeleton, With the philosophy "Not touching is prohibited". The Science Museum offers different interactive exhibitions about science and technology.
Agora: venue hosting a wide and variety events in Valencia.
Umbracle: open garden in Mediterranean style, the park has a beautiful collection of contemporary sculptures, what attracted to me is the orange trees along the walking path in the middle of the park.

The feeling that the city of Valencia gives me is difficult to describe in words. It can be said that there are some contradictions, but it is harmonious in the depths of the soul. Modernization has been perfectly reflected in its technology city. Many science fiction movies have come here to shoot, but the old streets here are full of medieval phantoms. Walking in the shadow of the building seems to have hidden the kind of change. Quiet bricks and sediments, this old town seems to have only grown up and never matured. It still maintains the mysterious beauty of the human heart, and has produced dazzling new organs. In Valencia, you can smell an old, not decadent taste, and see a period of sleep and not hidden.
WANGHE.

This futuristic architectural complex is a must-see in Valencia. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, it includes the Oceanogràfic (Europe’s largest aquarium), a science museum, and the Hemisfèric IMAX theater. Walking around the sleek, white structures and reflective pools feels like stepping into another world. Great for families, couples, or solo travelers—it’s a fun and educational experience with plenty of photo opportunities.

The ultra-modern architecture of ancient Spain - the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.
Valencia, the shining pearl of the Mediterranean, is the source of inspiration for the architectural master Santiago Calatrava. This master spent 14 years creating a brilliant monument in the history of modern Spanish architecture - the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. This city within a city stands proudly on the vast riverbed left behind after the Turia River was diverted in the 1960s. Santiago cleverly used the unique geographical location and dry climate of the Mediterranean coast, with water as the soul, and ingenuity, making each building float lightly, as if rising leisurely from the water.
The once dry riverbed has now been reborn, transformed into a vibrant municipal park. It not only carries the historical memory spanning thousands of years since 138 AD, but also seamlessly connects the depth of classical relics with the most avant-garde and innovative architectural styles of the new century, weaving a magnificent picture of the integration of ancient and modern times, and harmonious coexistence. The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia is not only a miracle of architecture, but also a model of perfect dialogue between nature and humanity, history and the future.

The city of Arts and Science
Spain’s Valencia is a city which mixed the old and new into a perfect balance. The city’s modern area is centred around the futuristic looking city of Arts and Science.
Within this complex there are a number of attractions such as the interactive science museum, the oceanographic park and the centrepiece Planetarium. The area also provides plenty of green space, accessible on foot or following its impressive cycle paths.

Spain's "Land of Fish and Rice" is worth a visit!
The weather is cool, and it's the perfect time to go out for a walk and relax! Come to Valencia, Spain, the 2024 European Green Capital!
⛲️ Valencia is home to Spain's largest city garden, the Turia Gardens (Los Jardines del Turia, p3-p4), which stretches for 9 km. The famous City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, p5-6) is located in this park. Its futuristic and technological feel has attracted sci-fi films and TV shows such as Star Wars and Westworld to shoot here.
🥘 Valencia is also known as Spain's "Land of Fish and Rice". The city is surrounded by farmland covering an area of about 1.2 million square kilometers, which is the world's largest granary. Without this farmland, there would be no Spanish seafood rice!
You can already smell the fresh and natural scent of Valencia! This livable city is really worth a visit, don't you think?

Valencia City of Arts and Sciences is a new landmark landscape, including the Science Museum, Ocean World, Opera House, park, etc., which is suitable for citizens and tourists to come here for leisure and entertainment.
Taking photos is very good. We bought a ticket to the science exhibition hall, which is 9 euros, which is more suitable for children or teenagers. Just take photos outside. It is mainly in Sinish, and there is very little English, so many photo exhibitions are not easy to understand. The drinks inside are 2 euros of mineral water . You can bring your own bottle.

Valencia city break 🇪🇸
#summerdestinations
A city break in Valencia was the perfect mix of history, culture, and beach vibes! 🌞 This vibrant Spanish city really surprised me with its charm. From wandering around the stunning Valencia Cathedral with its Gothic architecture to strolling through the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences, there was never a dull moment. And the best part? Most attractions are quite affordable, with entrance fees ranging from €2 to €8, making it easy to explore without breaking the bank.
After soaking in some culture, I took a leisurely walk through the lush Turia Gardens, which used to be a riverbed and now runs right through the city. 🌳 It's a beautiful spot to relax, have a picnic, or rent a bike. Valencia’s beach, just a short tram ride away, was perfect for unwinding with a refreshing swim in the Mediterranean. The local paella is a must-try – you haven’t tasted real paella until you’ve had it in Valencia! 🥘
With its mix of old and new, Valencia is definitely a city to remember. #trip #ValenciaCity #SpanishCulture #BeachVibes #CityBreak #TravelSpain

Great Blend of culture and modern
#myhiddengems
Valencia has quickly become one of my kost favourite places in Europe. It is a wonderful city to visit. In addition to the many, many moderniste buildings and super well-lighted streets for evening strolls, the Valencians have converted the former Turia River bed into a sprawling series of parks, bikes paths and playing fields, culminating in the ultra modern civic buildings by Calatrava.
The old city has some breathtaking buildings and landscaping and the awe inspiring and modern city of arts and sciences, the grand pix racing tracks and the new parts are an absolute delight for travelers.

Valencia Two-Day Tour Guide
Valencia - the third largest city in Spain, not as crowded with tourists as Barcelona and Madrid, but the scenery is just as good, very comfortable. Plus, it's the birthplace of the Spanish seafood rice dish paella, which is also great to eat, so it's recommended to spend two days.
If you only have one day, you can focus on checking out the following places:
City of Arts and Sciences A classic work of avant-garde art, with three venues, the Science Museum, the Aquarium, and depending on your preferences, you can choose to check in one or more. Even if you don't go in, it's quite impressive just to look at it from the outside.
Valencia Silk Exchange Although not large, it has a long history and is related to the Silk Road, which makes it well worth a visit.
Central Market Right next to the Silk Exchange, a fresh produce market, very large and bright, with a beautiful dome, more imposing than both Barcelona's Boqueria Market and Madrid's.
Valencia's Plaza de la Virgen The heart of the old city, with many churches, etc., where the essence of Valencia lies.
Serranos Towers (Valencia) At the junction of the old and new towns, a tower that offers a panoramic view of the entire city.
If you still have time, you can go to the beach, and also to Turia-Park.

Valencia: Spain’s Sun-Kissed City 🇪🇸
Valencia, located on Spain's southeastern coast, is a vibrant city known for its stunning blend of ancient and modern architecture, beautiful beaches, and world-famous cuisine. As the birthplace of paella and a city that boasts a rich cultural heritage, Valencia offers a delightful mix of experiences.
Historic Landmarks: Begin your exploration at the City of Arts and Sciences, a futuristic complex designed by Santiago Calatrava. This architectural marvel houses a planetarium, an opera house, a science museum, and an oceanographic park, making it a cultural and educational hub.
Historic Charm: Head to the historic center of Valencia, where you can visit the Valencia Cathedral. This impressive Gothic structure, which also incorporates Baroque and Romanesque elements, is said to house the Holy Grail. Climb the Miguelete tower for panoramic views of the city.
Market Marvels: Explore the Central Market, one of the largest and oldest markets in Europe. The market’s beautiful stained-glass windows and iron architecture are as impressive as the wide variety of fresh produce, meats, and seafood sold inside.
Valencia’s Turia Gardens, a former riverbed turned into a lush green park, offers a tranquil escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. The gardens stretch for several kilometers and feature fountains, playgrounds, and paths for walking or biking.

🇪🇸Famous Spot in Valencia🇪🇸
🇪🇸Vivacious Valencia🇪🇸
Visited the City of Arts and Sciences where the work of the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and several of its buildings have become icons in the city.
It is a scientific and cultural leisure complex which can be enjoyed with family or friends, covering around two kilometres of the former riverbed of the River Turia.
It is also where the famed Valencia sign is located.
We hung around here to take some keepsakes with the Valencia sign. At night the lights are on and it is also beautiful! Great spot!

City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia
One of the most famous and at the same time beautiful buildings in Spain is definitely the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, also known as Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias. A visit is one of the best things to do in Valencia because here you can expect plenty of interesting highlights.
The building complex is located on the edge of the green Turia Park, and the building inspires especially for its futuristic backdrop. Designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, the complex consists of several modern buildings that were opened between 1998 and 2009 and house various museums, exhibitions, and gardens. One of the main attractions is the opera house!
Another highlight of this Spanish building is the water landscape integrated into the area, which gives this attraction that certain something. If it pleases you, you can also rent a boat and paddle through the waterscape.
But there is more to the city of arts and sciences! Worth seeing are the 3D cinema L’Hemisfèric, the Science Center, L’Oceanogràfic, L’Umbracle, and the Opera. You should allow some time to visit here to see the best attractions.
Grandiose is that you can visit the area around the building for free. Only if you want to see individual buildings from the inside you have to pay an entrance fee. You definitely save money with a combination ticket that includes several attractions in the area.

Plenty to do with great weather here. We stayed at a place called Riba-Roja just outside the main city which has great architectural buildings. For beaches to compliment the weather you can visit the old town and go to Malvarossa beach which is packed with people at night. The city of science and art is also a must see with great architecture and activities to do. #Spain #Valencia #Summer

Unforgettable moments in Valencia
If you want to experience unforgettable moments in Spain, I recommend going to Valencia.
Valencia is a city with a population of about 800 000 situated on the southeastern coast of Spain, about 150 km north from Alicante. It’s famous for its port as well as a city of arts and sciences - not forgetting futuristic buildings and structures. The city has a long history dating back to the Roman Empire, about year 138 BC.
I personally felt very comfortable in Valencia. The city is not filled with masses of tourists as many other cities in Spain often are. That means that the original nature of the city and Spain too can be seen and felt even better.
The vivid old city is filled with incredible and beautiful little buildings, shops and restaurants. In the more modern part of the city buildings are bigger and generally very good looking. The science museum in the southeastern end of the park that traverses the whole center of the city is an example of a very modern and futuristic style. So you can easily find something to every taste.
There are nearly endless opportunities for shopping in the center and the old city with numerous great restaurants is only a short distance away.
Actually there’s also a nice beach at the Mediterranean coast, so even beach life is possible there. It’s a little further away than walking distance from the center but very easily accessible using taxi, rental car or even public transportation.
I will surely go again one day. It’s definitely one of the cities where I could consider living too.
