God's Tribe Simakus
God's Tribe Simakus is located on a 1,500-meter-high mountain in Jianshi Township, Hsinchu County, Taiwan Province. Because it is the last tribe in Taiwan to have electricity, it has been able to retain its complete natural landscape!
To the east of the tribe, there are giant trees that are over a thousand years old. It is about 5.2 kilometers from the tribe to the giant trees, and it takes about 4-5 hours to hike back and forth. This section of the journey can only be accessed on foot, and there is no means of transportation. People with poor physical fitness should consider it on their own!
Simakus has preserved the original ecology of Taiwan's aboriginal tribes, isolated from the world on a high mountain. You need to apply online to drive in. If you are staying on the mountain, you don't need to apply. Because there is a very narrow section of the road up the mountain where cars cannot pass, it can only be open to traffic in one direction. There is a time limit for traffic, so if you want to go up the mountain, you must understand the traffic opening hours before you can go up!
Simakus is free to visit, and there are parking lots, restaurants and supermarkets on it, but the restaurant is not open for long, and the restaurant is next to the parking lot. If you want to go to the giant trees, it is best to bring your own water and dry food. There are no restaurants or supermarkets on the plank road of the giant trees to buy food, so you must prepare it yourself!
The cherry blossom season in Simakus in spring is even more beautiful, but it is hard to find a room during the cherry blossom season. If you want to go, you must plan ahead. Although the journey is long, the beautiful scenery is worth it!
