🌟We booked our flight at the Fig Lodge in the Masai Mara for $450 per person (July 22nd). Although it was dry season, we saw almost no animals, only hippos, an elephant, and a herd of wildebeest in the distance. Due to cloudy weather, we only saw a glimpse of sunrise.
However, since it was our first time in a hot air balloon, the view of the East African savannah was quite spectacular (different from the view from a safari vehicle) and was truly breathtaking and worth it. Plus, you can enjoy a savannah breakfast upon landing (this needs to be booked separately and is also charged).
If you've been on a hot air balloon before and are avid animal lovers, I wouldn't recommend this one. After all, it's expensive and will delay your morning visit to see the wildebeest crossing the river (coincidentally, we didn't see any wildebeest crossing the river the morning we went for the hot air balloon ride 😭)
