Locorotondo is gorgeous 🇮🇹
#travelgram
Locorotondo, Italy, is an absolute gem in the heart of Puglia! This small hilltop town, known for its whitewashed buildings and narrow streets, feels like stepping into a postcard. Wandering around the centro storico, I was mesmerized by the circular layout and charming balconies overflowing with flowers. The best part? The town itself is free to explore, and there’s so much beauty to take in!
One of my highlights was grabbing a coffee at a local café with views of the Valle d’Itria below. It’s a perfect spot to slow down and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. You can also visit the nearby towns of Alberobello (famous for its trulli) or Martina Franca, both just a short drive away.
The overall vibe of Locorotondo is calm and authentic, a great contrast to the more tourist-heavy destinations. I recommend a leisurely visit, stopping for some wine at one of the local vineyards, as the region is known for its white wines.

The fading Frescos of St. Nicholas of Myra
The Church of St. Nicholas of Myra was built around 1660 and really blends into the buildings around, you almost don’t notice it, but it really is a beautiful place to see. The frescoes, although not in great condition and sadly deteriorating, are still very bright and depict scenes from the life of Saint Nicholas of Myra.

Rectory Church of Madonna della Greca
The Rectory Church of Madonna della Greca is the oldest church in Locorotondo, Italy and was first built in the 7th century and reconstructed in the 15th. It still maintains a mediaeval Gothic style, in the past the church had frescoes, and fragments of a fresco of the Madonna and Child can be still seen on the wall on the right side of the church. There is also some great sculptural works inside the church.

A White Christmas (of Trulli Lights!) in Locorotondo, Italy
#holidayseason
If you’re dreaming of a unique and enchanting holiday experience, Locorotondo, one of Italy’s most picturesque villages, offers a Christmas celebration straight out of a storybook. Nestled in the heart of Puglia, this circular hilltop town transforms into a festive wonderland each December, blending Italian charm with holiday magic.
1. A Village of Twinkling Lights
During the holiday season, Locorotondo’s narrow cobblestone streets and iconic whitewashed houses are adorned with dazzling Christmas lights. Walking through the historic center feels like stepping into a snow globe (minus the snow, thanks to Puglia’s mild winters!). The illuminated trulli, traditional cone-roofed houses, sparkle under the night sky, creating a fairy-tale atmosphere.
2. Festive Markets and Local Treats
Locorotondo’s Christmas markets are filled with artisanal crafts, hand-carved ornaments, and seasonal delicacies. Be sure to try cartellate, a local pastry drizzled with honey or wine syrup, and warm up with a glass of vin brulé, Italy’s answer to mulled wine. The festive aromas and joyful energy are irresistible.
3. Music and Community Joy
Locorotondo comes alive with carolers, street performers, and concerts held in its charming piazzas. The town’s baroque church hosts special holiday masses, adding a touch of spiritual warmth to the celebrations.
Whether you’re soaking in the lights, savoring local flavors, or enjoying the welcoming community spirit, Christmas in Locorotondo is an unforgettable blend of tradition and magic. It’s a must-see destination for holiday travelers seeking something truly special!

Locorotondo pretty small little town in Puglia
I visited countless villages, towns and cities during my time in Puglia, but this particular place perched upon a hill, may just have been the most beautiful of them all. And in a region as spectacular as Puglia, that should be reason enough to visit - even if it's only for a few hours.
During Christmas season,it is full of decorations around the small alley.
Locorotondo is a fantastic place from which to survey the spectacular countryside around. Whilst views can be garnered from many spots in the city, for the very best vistas head to the limit of this hill-top town (easy to find in the small centro storico) and the small street that encircles its highest point. Known somewhat confusingly as the ‘lungomare’, despite being quite some distance from the sea, this route offers spectacular panoramic views of the valley below, with vineyards, olive groves, an trulli.
How to get there:First take a bus to putignano then take train to Locorotondo.Whole journey ,took less than 3 hours.
A day trip is sufficient for this village.😁

Italy 🇮🇹 Locorotondo
#EuropeTravel
Locorotondo is said to be the most beautiful town in Italy.
It's a small town.
It's close to the World Heritage site of Alberobello, so I recommend visiting both.
I visited in the summer, and the balconies were decorated with flowers, and the pure white town lit up by the midsummer sun was truly beautiful.
Please come and visit!
Address: Locorotondo Bari, Puglia, Italy.
Access: The nearest airport is Bari Airport.
I recommend chartering a taxi and visiting Locorotondo, Polignano Mare, and Alberobello all at once!
You can easily visit them all in one day.
