From city centre to Safari park it’s around 30 minutes drive by taxi. Because of pandemic, many attractions are closed so just 2 hours is more then enough for all the activities there. Before Safari you can enjoy few shows, such as dancing show and tiger show. And after that you can take small train to Safari. Safari by itself only last for 20 minutes. Upon arriving at the zoo at 4:40 PM, I was informed by the ticket office staff that they were closing at 5 PM and that I should return the next day. Confused, I realized I was at the wrong place after some discussion. I then took a Bolt to the Chiang Mai Night Safari to finally experience the night adventure. The entrance to the Chiang Mai Night Safari is quite grand. I had pre-purchased my tickets on Ctrip, but the entry process was a bit cumbersome, requiring some time with the staff at the entrance, which caused a small queue. Fortunately, the Thai people are patient, unlike in some other places where I might have been scolded. Upon entering, I caught the TIGER SHOW just in time. However, the tigers seemed tired and uninterested, possibly from a long day, and were not very responsive to the trainers' food incentives. As the show ended, a heavy rain began, causing a delay as the tigers left but the audience couldn't. Once the rain stopped, I headed to the herbivore and carnivore zones for a tram tour. These areas are like a simplified version of Guangzhou's Chimelong Safari Park, with a limited variety of animals and some overlap between the herbivore and carnivore zones. Whether you sit on the left or right side of the tram, you'll see animals, but for interaction with zebras and giraffes, sit on the left. The guides provide bilingual commentary, and if you're lucky, you'll get one who can liven up the ride, making it more enjoyable. I recently visited the Chiang Mai Night Safari and decided it might be my last time there. I purchased a ticket for 126 yuan through Dianping. The park isn't very large, but the guides provide interesting commentary in Chinese. I entered around 4:00 PM and watched an animal show at the entrance, which included tigers swimming in water—a somewhat acceptable experience. Afterward, I took a shuttle to tour the herbivore and carnivore zones. However, the subsequent tiger show was a bit uncomfortable to watch. The loudspeakers blared incomprehensible commentary while the tigers and lions performed tricks. The animals seemed quite thin, and it was disheartening to see these majestic creatures reduced to performing for food. Transportation was inconvenient; it was difficult to find a ride back. A songthaew cost 300 baht to return to the old city. Chiang Mai's transportation system has its issues. If you want to feed the animals, make sure to sit on the right side of the vehicle, as the left side offers limited views. The safari consists of two different tram rides that are quite nice. Then there are the tiger show and the night predator show.
