Bangkok | Unexpected Alley Surprises: Bangkok Mural City Walk Made Me Fall in Love with Street Art
Exploring Bangkok isn't just about visiting malls or indulging in delicious food. If you're willing to slow down and wander into old neighborhoods, you'll discover countless surprises hidden within this city. This City Walk mural tour exceeded all my expectations!
Starting from BTS Saphan Taksin station, head towards Charoen Krung Road. Along the way, you'll pass through alleys and buildings untouched by tourists. But every turn into a corner might reveal a painted wall: from Thai mythological stories, depictions of local family life, to modern-style creations. The murals are vibrant, diverse, and feel like a secret art gallery within the city.
This City Walk took me about 2 hours, but the experience was far beyond what I anticipated. Highly recommended for anyone looking to see a different side of Bangkok. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and fully charge your phone—you'll be stopping frequently to snap photos!
Reasons to recommend:
① Hidden murals in alleys showcasing rich local culture and creative energy
② Accessible walking route, free to explore, no tickets required
③ Opportunity to visit unique coffee shops along the way and experience authentic local life

Bangkok Beyond the Usual: Neighbourhoods That Keep It Real
Bangkok isn’t just temples and tuk-tuks—it’s a city of layers, with local charm hidden behind touristy gloss. If you're ready to ditch the crowds and overpriced pad thai, these are the neighbourhoods where the city really lives, breathes, and gets creative.
**Songwat**
Old shophouses, riverside charm, and a quiet creative scene.
Must-try: terroir.BKK for coffee, Oyster and Things for unique house decor pieces, Lab Ega for modern Thai plates.
**Charoenkrung**
Bangkok’s oldest road is now its most creative—think galleries, sake bars, and street food legends.
Must-try: Charmkok, Warehouse 30 for Art and Coffee, and Jua for grill and chill.
**Talad Noi**
Rust, murals, and riverside views. A gritty, photogenic maze of alleys and old-school life.
Must-try: Hong Sieng Kong for a riverside coffee, and a casual photo walk.
**Thonglor**
Still stylish, still full of secrets behind the gloss.
Must-try: The Commons for chill food and drinks, Dry Wave for amazingly concocted cocktails, Last Call Bar late-night drinks.
**Ari**
Cool, calm, and local. Bangkok’s brunch and boutique ‘hood.
Must-try: Nana Coffee Roasters, Ong Thong Khao Soi, and MTCH for serious matcha.
Final tip: Get off the main roads, walk slow, and follow your nose. That’s where the real Bangkok begins.

Open a new experience with Thai electrical appliances through the form of art through light, color, and sound, which is an exhibition for you to see in a very special way in Charoen Krung area.
The interior is divided into 3 zones on different floors.
Starting on the 1st floor is Brand Iconic, while the next floor is the CRAVE Space Room zone, which tells the story of taking a shower, using lighting like the water released from the shower, which will change color continuously, along with light smoke that is like steam when we take a warm shower. ☕️ Envies Cafe, a super loft-like coffee shop near Talad Noi.
#BangkokTravel Enjoy morning tea at Envies Cafe
A super loft-style coffee shop on a small ground floor of a building on Charoen Krung Road, opposite Talad Noi. It might be a place where you can stop by to relax and drink coffee for 15-20 minutes, but it focuses more on takeaway because the space is really small.
